Browser compatible/indexable fonts

I was looking for a list fonts I could use on a site that would still be indexable and view consistently on major browsers and OSes. Something like this is helpful

I was looking for a more comprehensive list though. We are trying to use some script fonts yet keep them at least indexable.

All fonts should be indexable if they follow unicode standards. Some modern browsers will automatically download fonts that aren't available, however I would advise against using non-standard fonts. The script fonts that you think look great will likely annoy your users more than please them. If you're just using them for a couple of headers on each page it might pay to just use images instead. Large blocks of text in non-standard fonts are irritating. Of course, images are not indexable and it's always preferable to use proper <h#> tags for headers in terms of SEO.

You bring up some valid points. Of course, you could use JavaScript to dynamically load custom fonts, but that might be getting a little complicated for the OP.

Good points. It was going to be used as headlines and pull outs but we will get by on simple common fonts so it is more easily searchable. The Web is not very typography friendly and we don't want to have to use images.

Since when is script fonts = fail or asshole with shitty taste? Just because the web hasn't caught up to efficiently using fonts doesn't mean we should abandon hundreds of years of typography and page design. We don't want to have to resort to images, download, or sIFR.
