I've been happily using Firefox for years, but it seems to be getting slower with each new version. My needs are simple. I just want a fast, uncomplicated browser and would appreciate a suggestion to use with Win 10.

There are all kinds of reviews online but again, these change as new versions of the browsers are introduced. I also know that everyone has their favorite for one reason or another, but I'd appreciate your opinion.

I also use Mozback to backup all Firefox settings so hopefully any suggested browsers would have a means of doing this. thanks.

If you want a secure browser out of the box check out Brave everything is built in just enable the security features you want and go.

If you want a secure browser with built in goodies and the ability to add extensions check out Comodo Dragon.

If you want a fast browser with tons of built in features and you can add extensions on top of that check out Vivaldi

If you want something a little different that is very fast check out Maxthon Cloud browser.

If your needs are simple and you want an uncomplicated browser to use on Windows 10, why not give Microsoft Edge a try. I use it on a daily basis and it's pretty fast, light and secure. Sure it lacks a lot of features and extensions, but for a barebones browser it should do a good job.

I switched to chrome because Firefox just got too slow. I found the choppy webscrolling so obnoxious I was going to switch back but I stumbled upon chrome://flags/ and when I enabled the option "accelerated 2D canvas" it made the browser buttery smooth. I put my cache on the ramdrive using mklink and have the bookmarks set up so the folders are on the toolbar and everything's good. Probably not the most private browser but I'm not concerned.

Umatrix or some other javascript blocker is required with Chrome as sites can hijack the browser in a way that they cannot with firefox without protection.

Opera is similar to Chrome so another option, also if you like a lot of customisation then Vivaldi (Chrominum based ) is another option but no sync option on that at present.

End of the day no right or wrong browser , but one you prefer and like to use, good news is plenty of free alternatives out there.

I also use Firefox 47.0.1 and it is a tad slow on my old Dell Deminsion 8200 P4 at 1.8Ghz and 2GB RAM .. it is much faster on my Toshiba Laptop with Windows 10 Home 64 Bit with 4GB of RAM .. I won't switch to the newer Firefox as I have one extension that just will not work on the newer versions (most of the others I use either will work or are being updated by their developers) .. As an alternative, you might want to try PaleMoon ... basically a more efficient version of Firefox and will allow unsigned addons. Also said to be pretty speedy.

A few more to check out;

SRWare Iron browser: it is Chromium based with google stuff taken out, and feels faster than Chrome to me at least https://www.srware.net/en/

SlimJet: which claims to be the fastest browser http://www.slimjet.com/

Cocoon Privacy & Security browser: there is not a whole lot of information on this one but it appears to be a proprietary cloud based browser similar to Maxthon and the first subscription browser I have seen. https://getcocoon.com/ worth a look at for the curious but not sure I would recommend it because of the limited data about it, i.e. user reviews etc...

If Firefox seems to be getting slower, the first thing I would try is to back up the Firefox profile (if necessary), then tell Firefox to reset itself.
