Bruins have been busy...first Gonchar...now Nylander?

Bruins acquire Nylander from Capitals

This is crazy. Being a B's fan all my life, I don't think I have ever seen them this busy at the trade deadline, nor making such a blockbuster deal as Gonchar. I'm not so disillusioned to think the B's will win it all this year...but this is quite a marked change in management's and ownership's methods. I think all the success the Pats and Red Sox have had in the past few years has forced the B's to finally suck it up and put a good team together.

Any thoughts on this trade from the resident ATOT hockey folks?

Boston has made some good moves, but I'm not sure there is enough there to win a Cup. If I were a Bruins fan, I'd be most concerned about the guys between the pipes. I wouldn't want either of those guys in goal when it comes down to crunch time.

While I agree, and said as much, that we probably won't be winning the cup, I don't think we are that far off either. Have you seen Raycroft's numbers? He may be young and lack the experience, but that doesn't mean he can't do well...and having Felix as a backup is a hell of a lot better than we have had in years. Playoff experience is important, but even that must be learned at some point, and can only take you so far.

Wow. Mike O'C was on a local radio station this morning saying that they would be announcing another deal (for a forward) today. I had only heard names like Francis and McEacherern (I KNOW I butchered that one...). I'm not familiar with Nylander. He any good? Good to see the Bruins actually do something at the deadline.

Nylander is very underrated. Terrific passer, exceptional skater, very good on-ice vision. Prototype playmaking center. Think of him as Adam Oates, except he can skate.

And 10 years younger. I really liked Oates when he was here. Sounds like Nylander will fit in nicely. If only Samsonov would get healthy....

I agree as well, the Bruins aren't going to win the Cup, but this is huge. If we can at least get through a round or two in the playoffs, that will give Raycroft the necessary playoff experience for future years... great plan to develop the team.

Well..nice debut of our two new guys..and we even got a Gonchar goal.


I think this Boston team has what it takes to go deep in the playoffs...only time will tell.
