BSOD before Win 7 login screen - Desperate for Help

So this all started last Thursday, was doing some gaming - my game happened to freeze, Alt+tabbing didn't work, Cntrl+Alt+Del didn't work, so I decided to force shut down my computer (holding power down for 3-4 sec).

Now Windows 7 won't boot all the way. I spent a good 7 hours that day trying to fix it, it couldn't get passed the "starting windows" splash page before a BSOD/comp would reboot itself.

I did manage to move my RAM around, take a stick out(running 2x4GB) and with only 1 stick in I am able to get to the windows login screen, where is says "Please wait.." but it just sits there for a couple min before eventually I get a BSOD. So I bought new RAM, same results - i'm stumped at this point, please help!

You could try using the Windows 7 install disc to repair Windows. I'm not sure if that'll fix it, but might be worth a try.

yeah unfortunately I tried that already, no luck.

Also tired booting in safe mode, as well as booting from last known good configuration, neither of which worked.

Since you mention gaming, it could be SecurROM has gone fubar on you.

However, the F4 STOP code is usually due to a hardware issue. Most common is Master/Slave configuration with IDE devices. But it could be as simple as a dead CMOS battery.

What brand is the SSD? Is it an OCZ Vertex Plus by any chance? Or a different OCZ SSD?

They are known for firmware problems and file corruption.

Heard the same thing, but mine is Corsair.

Basically just ended up doing a fresh install of windows on my other SSD and it works, but now trying to format my 1 TB drive and it says

"Windows cannot format the system volume on this disk" ugh..

What model is your 1TB HDD? You should probably run the manufacturer's low-level diagnostics to see if they come up with any errors.
