I have some Buddeez cereal containers that I really like and I was just shopping online for some more...when I came across this genius invention:

http://www.buddeez.com/Pages/1kaddy.html

:Q

I usually just toss a couple bags of charcoal on the back porch under the eaves, not the best place for them if it rains hard and bugs crawl all over them...now I have a better way! Woot!

Update:

Update 2 - looks like they removed it from the Ace Hardware site

4-pack at Ace Hardware:

Free shipping Site-to-Store (Katz Hardware, Ace Hardware, etc.)

$10 off $50 using coupon code ACEMCHE

I always hand pick the big chunks from the bag first, then dump.

with Kingsford? or real chunk Charcoal?

He must mean lump... that's generally what I use. I should get something like this though, because I can't lift the 50 lb bag of lump without tearing the bag and making a big mess, so I always end up hand loading it into the chimney starter, and then I have a ton of soot all over myself.

Anyways, Ace appers to have a 4 pack for $52.16... not bad if you have a couple of people that wanna go in on them:

Nice thanks! Free shipping to my local Ace Hardware Store, too - it would have been $48 for 2 from Amazon, this works out much nicer!

That's an easy way to look like a chimney sweeper

not really... you just need to know what you are doing. Been a pyro since age 7 or so... my aunt had a wood fired water heater and whenever I go over I ask if they need hot water Never messed with the woodstove though.

I actually prefer a mix of lump and brick...

All lump burns too fast and hot, I'll lay brick down, get it going, then lay a bit of lump across the top.

I'll probably buy one of these next time I see one. I waste a couple bags a year leaving them out in the rain.

Picked mine up today (shipped Site-to-Store). Basically like huge cereal containers. I got 4 - a few for charcoal and then one for dry supplies (newspaper etc.). Yay.

Yeah so I popped open my charcoal bin today (which has been kept indoors) only to discover it was covered in green mold. Gross! The only thing that I can think of is that the bag I emptied the charcoal from had been sitting on the ground after a rainstorm and had gotten damp, thus causing mold in a sealed environment. A quick google led me to a similar incident:

Guess I'm off to Home Depot for some more (dry) charcoal

What's the difference between those plastic containers and the plastic containers that the dollar general types of stores carry for $4 or $5? Much better quality?

It doesn't appear to be a vast difference. Why put charcoal that is already in a container, a bag, into another container?
