The firmware gives you QoS, and a bunch of other features. It will also allow you to boost your signal, and will make it incredibly stable.
I ordered mine online with no problem.

I am a bit behind the curve on this unit and the 3rd party firmware. What does this firmware get you?
I am going to do some voip, so I am interested in a unit that will do QoS well.
The price is right. Guess I'll walk over and get one.

...I was think messing around with QOS for viatalk and guess what? It bricked the router. Yes i tried all the save procedures and nothing would work. I am not the only one this has happened to. Do a search. I was so irritated that a firmware feature could brick the router...the only response i got was "ya that feature is kind of buggy". Well if its kind of buggy why in the world would you include it in a release version of the firmware and ruin some some peoples hardware!?!?! If i had to go with this router i would install tomato instead. I think tomato goes with stability of features which i prefer.

Anyone know if this router can be set up as an access point? (Or basically a signal extender that can connect to an existing wireless signal and re-send it. Not sure if access point is the right word.) With on board firmware, 3rd party firmware?
The ad in the paper listed it as a Router/Access Point.
