When burninga dvd in Nero, I'm noticing my drive buffer and my read buffer are dropping very fast. My drive buffer, which drops near instantly, goes from 99% ---1% ----99%----1% and it pauses the laser every time for the buffer underrun protection. The DVDs end up burned fine but it takes longer than normal it seems (15 minutes at 12x?)
Here are my specs:
A64 3000+
1 gig ram
XP SP2
Nero 6.6.0.3
Plextor PX-716SA brand new SATA drive
WD Raptor 10k rpm SATA drive
Both of those drives are connected to the same VIA SATA controller on my Asus K8V Deluxe motherboard
I was told that SATA is not similar to ATA, so it would be ok to connect both on the same controller?
On my older computer with a slow 16x CD burner, the drive buffer (and the read buffer) rarely drops below 99%.
P.S. Why does Nero only verify compilations at 2.4x
EDIT: I have the latest firmware on the drive
