Buffer underuns just started with HP8250?

It's a great burner been running fine for months and burned over 60 disks so far but now have a problem. The kids burn mp3's with ez cdcreator 3 and then use MP3decode to change to audio file to burn to disk. It's slow and tedious but has worked fine for months. Now during the burning process it gets about 4 tracks in and fails.
Any ideas? I have dma enabled and run the cdrw as the only cd drive. It's on its own channel and I use w98se. As well I have this one networked with another computer but all burning is done on the one computer only.

As well is there any simpler way to decode on the fly or anything? I heard ez cdcreator 4 does, is that true?

I would not recommend EZCD Creator 4 because it's too unpredictable. I've had friends that have used it and it has worked great, but I've also had friends use it with SCSI CD and CDR drives and get buffer underruns (which shouldn't happen on their setups). I would recommend using Nero Burning Rom. It takes a little while to get used to, but I have never had a problem burning any CDs with Nero. I'm not sure what else could be causing the underruns. I highly doubt that the buffer within the CDR drive is shot, so I'm not sure what else to recommend other than maybe trying out Nero. Good luck getting your burner back up and running

I was able to stop ramdom audio underruns by making sure that no one else was on the home ethernet while burning on the server and that no multitasking was being done.

The other computer was idle at the time or off other times and I believe everything is off. I don't run any other programs and am only burning at 2X as well. It looks like I'll have to take everything, software & hardware out, reinstall it all & try some more disks. I did download nero once but it wont run with excd installed so didn't try it, maybe I'll try again. I really like clonecd, simple & intuitive and works great!
