Build a new computer or upgrade?

Here's my current rig

CPU: Intel Core Duo T2500 2000MHz
Motherboard: ASUS N4L-VM DH
Memory: 2 GB of Corsair DDR2-667
Video Card: NVidia 7900 GT Extreme NVidia GeForce
Hard Drive: Samsung P120 250.0 GB @ 7200 RPMS
DVD R/W: Pioneer DVR-A08XLB
Sound Card: Integrated
Internet Connection: N/A Cable
Operating System: Windows Vista Business




I had a SCSI intially that made my life terrible, so went back to ATA (thank God). Now I'm having ridiculous problems with my computer (which is running Vista 32-bit) where like the screen will lock up occasionaly and it looks like it's a glass window and cracked all across the screen. Lots of triangular brokenness, taking different sections of the original screen and scattering it all over. Vista tells me my video card is the problem. This is correct, yes?

Also, my computer STILL continously will lock up and load the "Overclocking failed! Press F1 to dosomething or press F2 to Load Setup Defaults". All I can find in my BIOS is to set overclocking to Auto or Manual, not freaking OFF. ughhhhhhhhhhh.



So anyyywaysssss.... I really am sick of a computer that locks up every 32 hours or so and can't play games, and is just consistently and reliably unreliable. Should I try figuring out which parts are giving me the problems here or should I scrap it and build a new one?

Also, suggestions for a ProTools Music Recording / mid-high level gaming rigs would be very nice, with a price range of $675-$825 or so.

Go to bios, load defaults, save & exit, go to bios again, change overclocking to manual, back up your files, do a clean OS install, you should eliminate most of the issues. If you can't, time to buy a new rig.
