The only reason I picked the Team RAM was that it was among the cheapest 2x4 kits of DDR3 of at least 1600mhz that I could find from newegg on a quick notice.
Likewise on my pick of the G.Skill, I just habitually select 1.5V and lower, nowadays, when filtering RAM.

For your uses, you would not notice any difference between systems using and OC'd FX-8350 versus OC'd FX-6300.
The FX-6300 would run cooler (specifically, it will output less heat), putting less stress on the voltage regulation, power supply, etc.. It might also OC a little bit higher, getting it closer to i5 territory. Plus, it wouldn't cost as much as an i5.

Also, what other guy? The only people who have mentioned Sandisk in this thread are you and me.
I did. It's available for $85 from some place I've never ordered from before, but I'd swear it was <$90 at one of Amazon, TD, or NE, when I was composing the post (it's not right now), and the 256GB version was definitely either $155 or $156. If he got it for $90, it's a nice little SSD. OTOH, and FX-6300 and 240GB M500 for $150 would have been better in the long run, and cost less today.

Surely it's legal?

Not on this site, where they place corporate Eulas above the actual law.

Edit: The issue, I guess, is the existance of an NV document forbidding the separate sale of the game codes. Most people believe that applies only to the vendors, as the first sale doctrine says that basically, once they sell it on the open market, they lose the right to control it.

Some, however, have taken the document to be all-encompassing, and ignoring the law, and instead believing that selling pack-in game codes is actually illegal.

this is why i do not buy nvidia

thre is more whre this came from like game works.
by buying from them you do support these practices at least somewhat although by buying from their competitors is probably thrawting them more so you can buy from them if you want.

virtual larry is nvidia in as much trouble as charlie demerjian says they are?

Wrong. If you had understood what I said earlier, you'd know that RAM speed is not relevant for real world usage, and that timings are less relevant than MHz. The Team RAM would've been both faster and cheaper. The only reason I picked the Team RAM was that it was among the cheapest 2x4 kits of DDR3 of at least 1600mhz that I could find from newegg on a quick notice. I just got lucky that it was 2400 MHz.

thought about buying the team memory but for 8 more i thought the better timings might be worth it.

how do you guys like corsair memory or ssds?

also can i cancel individual items on my newegg order like amazon? the apatop memory is on a seperate order or shipping although i am not sure if it is worth messing with my order just to buy different memory. is the apatop okay if i do not overclock it? you do not gain much by overclocking memory right?

The Corsair Neutron series, soon to be gone, I'm sure, is excellent. However, it's rarely good in terms of GB/$, which is where Crucial, Samsung, and Sandisk have been going at it, lately. RAM is pretty much RAM.

As long as you catch it quick enough you can cancel. At NE, I think, "packaging," is the last stage where you can cancel and get 100% back.

are the corsair ssds worth the money over cheaper ssds? i am not sure i want to spend 120 on a 120 gb ssd. probably worth it for the quality but a cheaper ssd should be fine.

what about a aftermarket thermal paste? should i buy one and how shold i apply it?

is it worth the cost of that corsair neutron?
Generally, no, hence, "it's rarely good in terms of GB/$." It's worth the lower cost to get a current-gen non-Sandforce SSD from a major memory/storage company.

tlc is worse than mlc right? i took a look at some of the science and did not think that the tlc would be a better ssd than mlc. is the samsung evo any good?

Samsung EVO is good, and theoretically TLC isn't as durable as MLC but the real world impact is next to nil. But I'm failing to understand why we are even discussing that. Buy the Crucial M500 120GB.

Thermalright True Spirit 140 is bundled with Thermalright Chill Factor 3, it's very good, use it. There are many ways to apply it, but mostly it's not that important how you do it as long as you don't use too much of it. A small blob in the center, then apply pressure on the cooler and gently tilt it side to side to spread it evenly, that's how I do it.

Here's an example of the amount to use:

was just wondering about the samsung 830 evo since the reviews wre s good. not going to buy it. i would have to cancel the ssd off my amazon order if i want another ssd and then i would just get it later. not sure if it would matter as i have free two day shipping from amazon so it would probably get here faster than the newegg anyways. i did not get the free two day shipping from newegg because i heard some bad things about their shipping particulary about some promotion they were offering that was not any better than not at all maybe even worse.

how should i apply my thermal paste?

thankyou that will probably be fine. i was thinking about the stock paste from the amd processor. i figured that they might use cheaper thermal paste since it would cut costs.

last time i replaced a cpu cooler i took the pea size thing quite literally. obviosly was way too much. some people apparantly do not know how big a pea is. that would probably be somewhat bigger than the upper limit posted above.

do you know how to post pictures?

does a ssd cache for a hard drive make any sense?

MBAM is good. Is it worth it for you? No. Learn to be sufficiently paranoid when downloading and installing software, instead, so you never get the crap in the first place.

You can just use MSE, but Bitdefender is good, too. Norton and McAfee: avoid. Avast! is also good, and free, and I hear AVG has tamed its bloat (their annoying toolbar being installed everywhere has be somewhat biased against them, though ).

I just use ZoneAlarm Free AV + Firewall, works for me. It may not be the best though, I dunno, but i have no reason to change it

I think it's good you didn't waste our time any longer. I guess I should say I hope you'll like it, but... really? 8350, Sandisk SSD, 990Fx board, 270X, Apotop RAM? It's like talking to a brick wall.

This thread in a nutshell. OP, its your money at the end of the day. However, you must see that constantly second-guessing and ignoring advice without presenting good reasoning makes it frustrating for people who are trying to help you?

why is that?
It's basically paying money to take a chance that it might block something that you installed. Instead, you can watch what you're installing, your email attachments, etc., and never get it in the first place. Don't click next without looking at what you're clicking next for.

Now, for a business, that knows it's going to have dumb users, there is a cost to weigh: software costs v. IT support time.

That said, using the free non-resident version, which has no, "select all," feature, I am quite adept in alternating quickly between hitting the spacebar and the down arrow, though I have sometimes had to take breaks due to cramping, when there's 500+ files to remove .

about the 8350 i just thought that with games finally becoming more multithreaded it might be a good idea to have 8 cores. i was more or less planning on buying the 8350 from the beginning. i suppose i should have told you guys more clearly. you guys were not on for on hour so i just assumed to buy the better motherboard. the only reason i had to buy so soon was because the video cards ere out of stock in mere hours and i wanted the asus 270x video card. you guys said the reve gene, 270x, sandisk ssd, toshiba hard drive, and true spirit were good choices. even the apatop you said was good.

but you can temporalily disable the antivirus to install a program. while i often look at links before i click them sometimes i fail so i would like that protection.

can i install multiple antiviruses if i only use one for real time protection? use the other program to do searches for viruses as they all find different stuff.

Don't install multiple antiviruses. If you don't know enough to always second guess a link, then you probably don't know how to disable automatic scans, and with multiple antiviruses, your computer is just going to slow to a halt.

On a sidenote, people coming here with sacred cows is a combination of frustrating and amusing.

are you implying knowledge and mistakes are one and the same?

you do not have to have multiple antiviruses running. i meant having multiple antiviruses installed so i could run a scan and find stuff that other programs did not find at all.

meaning what?
