Every single-ended (and 99.999% of balanced) computer audio interfaces have an amplifier. There is usually a line amp right in the DAC chip, and if not, one in very close proximity. But, line outs tend to have about the same impedance across the audible range (generally, it's that the inputs they connect to help implement that). Headphones (and speakers) have varied impedance based on frequency, and the amplifier hooked up to them needs to be able to deal with that, among other differences.

The Xonar DX has the JRC* 5532, which is pretty good, quite capable of most headphones directly, and will mostly be limited by the surrounding circuitry (like most opamps).

* The original Phillips chip had been tweaked over ages and ages and ages, and then something happened to the factory, IIRC--a fire?--and replacement chips made from original plans didn't measure or sound as good, but the records of what had been changed were gone. Some audio outfits were scouring for NOS ones for awhile. JRCs are popular, and fairly cheap, though ON's and TIs are what get used when it's not about cost (to a degree: some only use NOS Signetics), and ON's measure better (the 553x have been around for decades).

Touch the case a lot, and don't shuffle on carpet (try to walk on carpet as little as possible). ESD is all about the difference between around your skin, and the stuff you're touching. Touch it a lot, to minimize that difference, and not allow a long time for a high enough charge to damage anything to build up.

You don't really need to Earth, just remove any significant potential difference between you, the case, and other parts, which lots of contact with the case should do sufficiently well.

Apply a dot the size of a dried pea or rice grain to the center of the CPU and mount the fan. The tightening action will spread it evenly.

the bios finds both drives but only reconizes the toshiba hard drive as a boot drive.

entering the advanced mode allowed me to put sandisk as 1st boot option

so on reboot it does not like the ssd and now has the dvd drive or the toshiba hard drive as boot options in easy mode

The HDD should not be plugged in, yet. Unplug it, just in case, before installing Windows, then plug it back in once Windows is installed. The SSD should be plugged in, your SATA mode should be AHCI, try making sure CSM/Legacy/BIOS is turned on in your BIOS, then boot the DVD, and see if Windows sees anything to install to.

Whatever color goes to the chipset. With the HDD unplugged, and the DVD in the boot order, it should try to boot DVD first, then SSD, then either fail or try network of USB (which will fail).

the cpu red led is gone. bad 8 pin connection. with the ssd connected the boot device red led is on. this was not so with the toshiba hard drive.

If there are different color, usually one color goes to another SATA chip, other than the AMD south bridge.

I have no idea what the boot device LED even is. Sounds like something a fussy OC tweaker board would have.

so i went to the enb site. nothing looked like another download so i clicked on the green download arrow. i know that some people use google and amazon for file or service hosting so the address did not really seem like anything to me. the file was actually a unrelated mod manager. since i was downloading a mod it seemed like it was the real file. i actually checked for enb mod manager usage for google search but there were some forum threads on this. since it can take forever to find a relavent thread since there are hundreds of different way enb can be used with a mod manager i did not check more on this. anyways i downloaded and installed it. when it was asking to install this or that i was not to pleased although i figured it was what i had to do and i would just unistall anything i did not want. turns out the website is very badly designed and i had to download a different file. i managed to uninstall most of the crap although the mod manager is nowhere on the start menu and when i try uninstalling from the control menu it says to remove from the control panel but does not specifically say whether it will uninstall the mod manager itself. i want this gone not just out of sight. also i would like to know how i can do a sweep of my system for any loose remaining files. i can post a picture of the unistall prompt if you need me to.

two things that i want to keep seperate from my problems above

in order to get my soundcard working i had to install the realtek driver first. the red light would not turn on without the realtek driver. and the asus driver would not install without the realtek driver also. why is this. mfenn you seem like you might know the computer science for this.

so skyrim is installed on my hdd. it is slow when it first loads and sometimes it has stutters. after remvoing matso immersive rain most of the stutters went away. but they might still be around somewhat. will installing on my ssd get rid of these. i am usually running at 60 fps and when i move it might drop down to 40 or so when loading new objects but then bumps right back up to 60 when staying in the same spot counting the actions of other objects. most of this was done in whiterun so i have not done complete testing everywhere but i have checked through whiterun and outside riverwood.
