I would like to upgrade my current parts to better parts. I have a atx case. I need to upgrade my RAM, motherboard, processor and video card. I will mostly game and stream while gaming. I will not be overclocking.

I was thinking of purchasing the MSI Z97A GAMING 7 for my motherboard. As for my processor, is the Intel Core i7-4790K Devil’s Canyon Quad-Core overkill if I don't plan on overclocking?

If you don't plan on overclocking the Xeon E3-1231 V3 is a better buy. Still 4C/8T, clock is lower but it will turbo up to 3.8Ghz and stay there with a decent aftermarket cooler.

Could you please answer [thread=80121]the rest of these questions[/thread]? Such as budget and monitor resolution and buying timeframe?

I don't know about a 4790K being overkill if you don't overclock, but a Z97 probably is.

My monitor resolution will be 1920x1080. I would like to upgrade my parts as soon as possible.

I'm not too familiar with the different processors but is there a reason why I should choose the xeon E3-1231 V3 over Intel Core i7-4790 Haswell Quad-Core 3.6GHz other than the price? Will I get the same results?

I came up with these parts for my machine:

ASUS H97-PRO GAMER LGA 1150
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 2x
Intel Core i7-4790 Haswell Quad-Core 3.6GHz

All this comes out to $525. I would like to stay under 600.

OK, let's see. Your list of parts is alright, but you didn't list a video card. An i7 is usually overpriced for any benefit it provides to gaming.

You also didn't list your current parts (question 6). What is your current CPU? What is your current video card? What is your current PSU? (If you can't give us a specific model, see if it lists the amps available on the 12V rail(s).) Do you have or want an SSD?

I assume you are in the United States? (question 3.) Do you happen to be near a Micro Center?

Oh, and what kinds of games are you going to be playing?

You do probably want Nvidia for their ShadowPlay feature.

If you will be streaming while you game you'll need some processor power. What streaming software will you be using? Open Broadcast Software?

Yes I will be using open broadcast software.

My current video card is the geforce 560 ti 2gb. My power supply is 600w. I already have an ssd. I will need to save up more to upgrade my video card.

I went with the first recommendation of the Xeon E3-1231 V3 and the ASUS H97-PRO GAMER LGA 1150 for my motherboard. Will this suffice?

I'll mostly play counter strike global offensive and other numerous steam games. I spent about $470 for my cpu, motherboard and RAM. Is that a good deal? I do live near a microcenter but I didn't see any appealing deals.

The 4790K can be a pain to keep cool with the stock cooler.

You basically have an i7-4770 with a slightly slower turbo speed.

You likely will never notice the difference.
