Iwould like a upgraded computer and would like some info on how hard it is to build your own> Are there ant resources available. I free fairly comfortable inside a pc, but have not done anything this extensive. What are your experiences?
I will the pc for a little bit of everything - internet, baasic office apps and some gaming. I would like to build a fairly high end system (AMD 4200+, Gefore 7800GTX, 2 gig ram, 2 hard drives)
One thing to be sure of is where you are buying the parts- I would recommend tigerdirect if youre not going to use pricegrabber or newegg to find parts- they have all new hardware for cheap prices, very good support, and there are tutorials on the site, w/ pics and everything.

fairly high end? what you're speaking of IS high end
for those components, it's cheaper to build your own. Tho I hear dell is doing quite well with their XPS desktops (can't beleive i recommended dell )
My main advice is to get a good-quality aftermarket power supply with plenty of wattage. Emphasis on good-quality, do not use the freebie junker that came inside of a flashy ricer case. Seasonic, Antec, Fortron, Enermax and PC Power & Cooling are some safe bets, and for what you're planning, I would go right on up into the 550W-600W range and you'll be set for the long haul.
Have fun and pay attention to the security aspect during system setup, don't want your brand-new rig getting 0wned by worms the minute you plug in your network cable. Good luck!
you should definetly build your own also you might want to research and see what parts are the ebst then order them online and if you dont want to build it let a computer store near your house put it togeather for you they dont charge much i know compusa charges around 100 bucks here so you can do that if you want
here is some parts i would recomend
x4200 very nice dual core
epox ultra nforce 4 motherboard or if your going to overclock hardcore a DFI lanparty
7800gt dont get the gtx isnt that much powerful then gt in benchmarks
get at least 2 gigs of ram
