Alrighty. So I got a bunc of parts earlier this morning for Black Friday and need some help on what else to buy.

So far I got:

671T-M Motherboard

Alrighty, so thats what I bought. Specs are in the links.


My questions are:

Besides the case, vid. card, sound card, and operating system. What else do I need?

and. Will the RAM i bought work in the motherboard I bought?

Also, will a NvD 8800 or Ati 2900 be compatible as well?

And are all my items compatible with eachother?



Please help me out. I'm new to building computers and I only wen on what my friends told me. Please bear with me.

Well the first thing that you need is a motherboard. Because what you got is not a motherboard, it's a piece of crap. You should sell it on ebay or something, but I would not put an ECS in any computer I own. Might look into something like this:

Basically with that deal you got a cheap Core 2 Quad. Less than you would pay for the CPU alone anyway. So still a great deal.

The OCZ RAM is good. It will work in most boards.

The Emprex DVD looks like a rebadged LG/Sony so you should be fine there.

The Maxtor HD, in my opinion, I would get a different brand if you can, as I've seen far more Maxtors fail than any other brand. But if you're fine with it then cool.

So yeah you need a case, vid card, sound card (or can use onboard sound), and OS. Mouse/Keyboard if you want new ones, speakers, etc. I assume you'll keep existing monitor.

No it isn't. It's a Maxtor.

And now I can't buy Seagate anymore either. So it's just WD or Hitachi for me at the moment.
