Cheapest??

Well I like ASUS MOBO's or Shuttle.

But why the cheapest? does it not matter?

The cheapest 865G based motherboard, with all the features you need, I was able to find is the AOpen AX4SG-MAX for $143. Since this is $50 over the cheapest 865PE based motherboard, it really negates the benefit of onboard video. You can easily get an add-in video solution for cheaper than $50 and it will perform better. Also, if you go with the right card, you may stand to have better 2D quality than the Intel Extreme Graphics solution will provide.

But I just listed a motherboard with all of those features,i865G, for 110$.

There are very few reasonably priced A64 boards with firewire... even less with firewire and integrated graphics, like the 110$ board I listed.

So he buys a $92 A75 motherboard, a $12 firewire adapter and uses his old video card for now. It really doesn't matter, since he won't try the Athlon64.

Um.. question for Epo man.

If this is a rig for your wife.. why do you need a window..?

I thought they were just for the people who liked nice looks on their computer. But if your wife is editing, won't she be looking at the screen, and not at the window? Just wondering..

Well, that is definitely a much better price point than the 865G board that I found. I still don't like using onboard video. However, it will probably do the job for him. Definitely consider the 865G at this price point.

Well others will be able to see the computer you know and we both think it looks nice that way, Whats wrong with that.
So according to your statement people who have windows on the side of the case Never look at the screen? only the window!

I just find it flashy and an un-nessecary cost for a mid level video editing rig.

this motherboard will save you quite a few dollars. Onboard sound, video, lan, firewire, and USB 2.0 will indeed save you the need for a firewire card, and a videocard.

If you *need* a window, go with This case.

Black, comes with window, front and back fans, front USB, front firewire.

Edit: You'll need a P4 compatible Powersupply.

I would go with the Abit IS7-m or the Asus P4P800-VM they have all the features you want and prescott support for upgrades. Don't know how long prescott will be 478 though. As for the case I have the Chieftec full tower with window/ usb/ firewire/ and side fan. Its great. Plenty of room to work, hide wires, and good airflow. Pair it with an antec PSU and you have a winner.
