Personally I would NOT buy another MSI motherboard.

Did you know that they recently were the target of a class action suit by the state of California ?

Then that is not the video card you want. Quadro models are not meant for gaming nor video editing. Video editing utilizes cpu and system ram, doesn't use the video card.

NO on the Video Card, Motherboard, Hard Drive, and PSU. CPU is your choice. Your Paying $100 for a 10x multiplier, thats it. I would save that cash and buy an Opteron 165.

Socket 940 is for servers. I'd get a dualcore Opteron 165 (Socket 939,) a good 939 board (A8n SLI Premium maybe, will be much cheaper than the MSI server board), and a 7800GTX video card. Don't know much about the PSU, but Rosewill isn't exactly the best brand (I'm using one right now, but it's limiting my overclock because of how much the voltages fluctuate under load). Look at the Enermax Liberty if you want a good modular power supply.

Opteron 165 and overclock
DFI Lanparty NF4 or EPoX or Asus board
7800GT as graphics card
I'd go with Western Digital 16mb cache HDD
2x burners? Why? Plus plextor is overpriced = BenQ. Get NEC 3550 or something.
PSU crap. Get Enermax 535, Seasonic S12-500, OCZ Powerstream 520 (even SLI version), or something by Antec.
Not sure about winxp 64-bit. But recall games run slower and most program still dont support it.

Okay, thank for your suggestions.

-Will the ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe or DFI Lanparty NF4 mobo support the Opteron 165? I looked at the "CPU type" sections on the spec and it says Athlon 64 FX/Athlon 64/Sempron.

-How about the SUS EN7800GT DUAL/2DHTV/512M Dual Geforce 7800GT 512MB? Its a little pricey but with dual GPUs.

-I wanted two burners so I could directly burn media from one source to another. The plextor I was looking at was $120 and is on SATA /w 8M cache. Are Plextor drives unreliable or did you jsut suggest NEC becasue its cheeper?

-Im daft about PSU's so i just picked one with the power I thought I would need. Can you suggest a modular PSU that works with SLI and SATA drive? I really dont like the look fo teh cable trunk, especially in cases with windows.

-I looked into WinXP 64 bit and there are a lot of compatiablity issues still, so I'll guess ill stick with good 'ol XP Pro.

-How much memory is enought for this system? Mobo supports 8 Gigs so... would 1 Gig be sufficient?

-I was looking around google for info about the raptors but im still confused about the actualy uses of them. I assume they are used to install windows and program that need to read / write from HDD a lot. Would game benefit from these HDDs?

^_^ thanks for your continued support to all my silly questions~

Yes, get the Asus A8n32 if you want the best of the best. Otherwise, save $125 and buy the DFI NF4 Ultra-D. (unless you musth ave SLI).

Don't bother spending too much on a GPU right now. Get the 7800GT to tide you over. Otherwise, in 2 weeks, ATI will hardlaunch teh X1900XTX which will absolutely kill everything out there. IN a few months after, Nvidia will be out with their G71, and we don't know how that will perform yet.

Raptor 150GB is the best HD right now for loading times and speediness for a SINGLE user. No competition. Otherwise, I would get solid state storage.

There are many PSU choices. I can recommend OCZ powerstream 600W. There are others just as good and cheaper, but I'm not so up to date with those (mine hasn't given out yet.)

2 Gigs of RAM will only cost you about $130 anyway. I would just get 2GB. Check the Hot Deals, most are comiing from Outpost.com.

I don't think A8N32 justifies the price difference even if it has dual 16x lanes. Plus unless you are getting 2 cards at once, I would not go with SLI. Either will support an opteron processor. Opteron = FX = A64 (all same chip). Just FX has unlocked multipliers up and down and Opteron gets stress tested more since it is for server use. Before Opteron was for socket 940 that is why no one talked about it. Now once they switched to socket 939, it obviously overclocks better since it is cherry picked. But if you do not plan to overclock, do not get an opteron since each comes with a 200mhz disadvantage at equal price levels with A64/X2 processors.

My suggestion is X1800XT at monarch I think they have a MIR, 2x7800GTs if you must buy today. If you can wait 2 more weeks, R580.

You know that you just need 1 DVD burner and 1 DVD drive. You do not need 2 burners. A regular DVD drive is only $25.

Cons: Generally ANY modular PSU - espeically if you use a motherboard that supports dual-core processing or SLI, or basically a high-power-consumption setup. Modular PSUs (where you just plug in cables to the main unit as you need them) greatly reduce the amperage to the PC. But if you insist, here is a massive PSU roundup:

26 PSU roundup Antec Neo series does pretty well.

-How much memory is enought for this system? Mobo supports 8 Gigs so... would 1 Gig be sufficient?

I'd say 1 gig is enough for most people. But really you would have to buy 2x512 sticks and that is not optimal since later it'll be 4x512 and 2T latency with A64. So I'd invest in 1 stick of ram 1 gig if you can't afford 2 at the same time. Then get another 1. But 2 gigs is what I would get today.

-I was looking around google for info about the raptors but im still confused about the actualy uses of them. I assume they are used to install windows and program that need to read / write from HDD a lot. Would game benefit from these HDDs?
I think of the price, the Raptor is not worth it just yet. Maybe when it gets to $200 or so.
150 gig raptor vs. 74 gig raptor vs. WD400 SE16

So getting 250 gig or 400 gig WD 16mb SATA drives Much cheaper. Sure they are slower, but you can get 250 gig and it'll be still faster than 90% of all SATA drives. If you need more space, the 400 gig version is nice (or 250x 2 since I like to keep OS on 1 drive with music and stuff and games and everything else on the other. I want the main OS drive to be fast and so I can reformat it at any time and not care. With 400 gig drive you pay > than 2x250 and you gotta partition.)

Plextor is the preferred optical drive on another message board. Due to quality and reliability. You do, however, pay a premium for that.
