don't get the 80gb seagate and the 250gb western digital, get either a 320gb if you need the space or stick with the 250gb western digital (unless the 80gb is from a previous build?)

i would recommend dropping down to the E6600 cpu. that 260MHz really isn't noticeable.

i'm not sure how much you're paying for the OCZ ram but i'm sure it's at least $100 more than what you should be paying for ram. you're not overclocking, right? so why get ram for overclockers?

just wondering, what monitor do you have? cause that 8800GTX will have no problems running anything at 1920x1200, which is more than any 20" monitor's resolution that i know of.

hope my tips help

thanks for the quick reply, I Guess i will just stick with the 250 gb hard drive, I was only going to get the second for storing games ect on but i think the 1 hd will be eneugh, as for the processor you are probably right but i figure the more power the better , I will not be overclocking however the ram costs $250 on sale wich is around the same price as most other 2gb kits so i may aswell go for it.

My monitor is just a 19 crt monitor however i want the added horsepower of the 8800gtx for the future.

If you are looking for speed you could get a 75gb raptor drive for a boot drive, I would also say the ram could be droped as well as the cpu as others have noted..

I was in your situation a month ago and was unwilling at first to consider overclocking. Well I setup my system just in case.

The ease at which I achieved a stable 3.2GHz out of my system was ridiculous. Stock voltage, low temps, and 100% stability and I've thrown everything at this system during the last month.

$220 E6400 running faster than the $1000 Core 2 Duo. Like I said, just get some memory that will run 800 and a good CPU cooler and then you can at least give it a shot. If by chance you can't hit really high speeds you'll still have some good stuff in there.

Not Really. See this link.

Also, the 8800 GTX seems a little overkill to me on a 19". I guess it makes sense if you don't want to upgrade your system at all for the next few years, but I'd still stick with the GTS over the GTX.

I'm not really a fan of OCZ RAM, but that's just my own personal bias really, no facts to back that up. But you might want to check out this memory guide from yoxxy, lots of reccomendations in there.

with the P180, you might need a 12v EPS extension. I had to wait an extra three days after my parts arrived because the PSU cable wasn't long enough. See if you can order one from NCIX. Btw, did you know they have a price match function? I think it's awesome because 20 minutes on google can save you over $200 =D.

Check out the memory guide, some OCZ lines are really crappy. I cheaped out on the ram and got some inexpensive OCZ ram and now I regret it.

(1) I'd consider going with EVGA for the 8800GTX over BFG because of better warranty terms... they allow aftermarket cooling & overclocking.

(2) Get a Seagate 7200.10 320gb HD instead of the Western Digital ... I have both drives & the WD gets hotter then any none-SCSI HD I've had in many years, plus the Seagate is quieter & has a 5 year warranty.
