Most my build has been AMD but gonna try Intel

Hoping to reuse my Corsair 550w ps, And have Antec 1030 case.
Also keeping my dell 24inch wide screen and my 150Gb velicoraptor

Yes, but most suggestions on deals are dead or link doesn't work

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.

Wanted moderate overclocking. Whatever my ps can handle

Can you see a sticker on your PSU? Should say the amperage on each rail. May need a new one.

Velociraptor may end up being slower than a modern 1tb drive, probably is depending on the generation.

Well my ps was a corsair hx520 and it should be 3-4 years old, i might have to upgrade that. My velociraptor is 5 years old. If new hd is faster i go for that.

Sp12's build looks good. You can combo the F3 1TB and the 650TX and be all set.

Probably want to get a new PS, something that is well rated with good reviews. Seasonic are known to be pretty good. Just get a 700w+ PS with good reviews.

I 2nd the notion of getting an SSD. A good SSD will have a huge impact on your performance. I'd get like a 160GB SSD and a 1TB drive for storage.

whatever motherboard you want (there are a lot of good boards out there, just spend 5 minutes looking around sites like this one)

whatever DDR3 4GB kit you want (might wanna get 8GB, dunno how much of an impact that much RAM will have for video encoding but i presume a reasonable one)

your hard drive's fine, might wanna consider a 1TB drive for storage and maybe an SSD for your install, as others have said, but nothing wrong with just sticking with your velociraptor.

video card...i've read some good things about a gtx 460 sli setup, but i generally don't support sli setups...check the fs/ft forum here, not too hard to find decent to good deals on powerful modern GPUs there. other than that, check this:

they put one of those articles out every month, so it's pretty up to date. they also have a nice hierarchy chart of any card you would want at the end of the article.

your power supply is most likely fine. corsair is a respectable brand and 550w, despite what a lot of people here will tell you, is a solid rating. a model number would help, though.

since you're looking into overclocking, you should consider an aftermarket heatsink for whatever cpu you end up getting; this will go a long way toward getting a good overclock. also make sure that whatever motherboard you get is generally received as being good for overclocking.

unless you already have a good mouse, i'd recommend you look into getting a good gaming mouse. i have a logitech g5, and it's an excellent piece of hardware. i can't speak for gaming keyboards and the like; i use a $5 usb keyboard and it's been great for the years that i've had it.

also it would be wise to invest in a good set of speakers or headphones; they can make a world of difference for gaming immersion and, in many instances, proper audio reproduction for a game can give you an edge. i have the audio technica ad700, and as is said all over the internet, they're terrific for gaming, as well as music listening (if they provide the type of sound signature that you like). i personally feel that they provide a better listening experience than my z-5500, in regards to both gaming and music listening. movies? the z-5500 sub thumps good for those action scenes.

That hard drive is a 5200 RPM "Green" Edition. I have one...it drives me nuts how long it takes to read. For pure storage its a great option. As a main system drive...I'd stay away.

If you're going with a single GTX 460, I wouldn't bother upgrading the PSU. If you definitely want SLI, then yeah, upgrade.

Also if you do decide to purchase that Caviar Green, be sure you're either using Win7 or change the jumpers for older operating systems. The green drives with EARS in their product numbers use an updated data cluster format allowing for slightly more usable space and better performance, but can't be read properly by Windows prior to 7 (Or maybe Vista? I'm not certain).

If that's a problem, the green drives using an EADS product number use the older data format and are just fine.

Also it is not a very fast drive. Perfect for storage, but probably would just be frustrating for an OS/apps/games.

Regarding the 760, you could see if they have any 750's in stock, as it the same thing only 133MHz slower and a few bucks cheaper.
