Okay. First off hello to all. Sorry if this is in the wrong section but to me it seemed the appropriate place to ask the question. I'm planning on building a new gaming computer that can handle basically any game that can be thrown at it right now. I am looking to spend around $2500 USD. To save time and keep this as short as possible I will list out what I currently have.

Keyboard Logitech G15
Mouse Logitech G5
Monitor 24" LG
Case Lian-Li PC 80P

Thanks again in advance guys and if this needs to be moved to a different channel or section please let me know.

First what you need to do is some leg work of your own. Look around at the parts that you want. Put together a list components you thing would be good and then come back and see if we can recommend any better options to you.

I'll bet you need to clarify your price/target for the Rig u want to build... IMHO, you don't need to spent $2500 if you want a good Game Rig, EXCEPT if you want to put an Intel Extreme CPU there. Yes, you'll get more FPSs from that (apr. 15-20% more), but you'll pay 150% for that kind of components ($220 4 a standard Yorkie vs. > $550 4 an IExtreme Black Ed.). And I would say the same about the DDR3 vs. DDR2 RAM memory... So, think twice

We need to know your preferences, if you have any.

ATI or Nvidia?
AMD or Intel?
Specific Brands of the actual products you prefer (eg: Asus, Gigabyte, Diamond, etc.)?

I would wait for a little bit. Nehalem Processors will come out on November 17 (they've already been shipped....
this is an ACTUAL launch date), so I'd see how those play out. Plus, the prices of the old ones may drop a bit.

It pays to be patient. Anyway, let us know about your preferences, and we'll be happy to help you decide if you
want it ASAP.

My opinions in general are these:

Go Intel Quads for either graphics company.
Go DDR3 if you can afford it.
Get the best single card you can get, and don't worry about SLI/Crossfire (X) for now.
With RAM, the more the better.
Get 64-bit if you can, and run vista (it's actually not that bad, but if you need to, you can dual-boot with XP).
Get a Western Digital Velociraptor (fastest HDD out there, and Solid-State Drives aren't worth it yet).

Ask to have this moved to general hardware or ask the question there but be sure to answer all of the questions from this thread here, you should get a quicker response that way.
