Building a new gaming rig. Haven't bought a case in years.

I'm still trying to figure out what components I'll use, I'm probably going with the current high-end Skylake processor, and going for a single video card build.

Is there any reason to go bigger than a midsize, if I'll only be using one vid card, one disc drive, and three hard drives maximum?

I was thinking about this case, but I've been out of the game so long I just don't know what the current go-to gear is anymore.

The c70 is an excellent mid tower case for your hardware recipe. It has enough space that you can expand your hardware over time. The construction and quality of the case is one of all time favorites. Love the handles and steel front bezel. I know you've linked Military Green, but Corsair offers factory refurb White c70 for $84.99, http://www.corsair.com/en-us/vengeance-c70-mid-tower-gaming-case-arctic-white-refurbished

My c70 build was for Planetside 2 Creative director, Matt Higby

Unfortunately, the cost of shipping to Alaska from Corsair would probably make it not worth it. Amazon does have a black one for cheaper, though. I'll have to check Corsair's shipping just in case.

Damn, your picture showed up after I posted. Nice case!

The C70 is a big case... way to big for a single GPU setup, unless you just want the look of the case (which I like, by the way.)

Personally, I'm a Fractal Design guy, now. I have 4 PC's built in Fractal 'mini' cases and not only are they well built and quiet, they offer more than enough room for a single GPU build with an mATX board. The days of having to have a huge case for cooling/airflow are over, don't be dissuaded by the smaller cases.

@Steven, gotcha! and Thank you.

@Charlie. I like Fractal too. Great quality and retail price. We shared booth at CES in 2012 and I've been doing product consulting for them since 2013. The define S was on sale last week for $69.99 and I bought two, otherwise it's $89.99, but Define S is more aimed at DIY liquid cooling.

The S is a full ATX case, probably as big as the C70... I just don't see the need for the size unless, of course, you just want all that room. To each his own. Hell of a deal for $70, though!

The Arc Mini my game build is in is also geared for liquid cooling, but that doesn't mean it can't be a good air case. I sealed up the top and side vents, added a second fan to the front (actually, all my Fractal cases have twin fronts) and it's working pretty well with a single GTX970SSC and an OC'ed 2500K. Scale up the Arc and you have the Define Mini... same size, better construction, fantastic sound damping.

only if ur going to use a EATX board to support a gazzillion gpu's, or drop in about 2000 dollars worth of watercooling.

Or your an ogre and have big hands and cant work in small spaces.

If your limited to what you said, ITX is the fad these days... Tiny boxes with one monster gpu, that looks like a sleeper.

Holy Higby, that deserves an Auraxium Medal.

Thank you! Matts such a great guy. He gave me full artistic license which made me feel honored to create it. I was little bummed he resigned from SONY, but I'm sure he had good reasons for it. I hope I can create another case for whatever new game he gets involved with again.

I would vote on a Fractal Design Define R5 if you don't know exactly what you are putting in the case yet. About the only thing it rules out would be E-ATX, while still being fairly compact in size (and extremely quiet).

There are many cases, and really none of them will impact your performance. What I did when I did my update earlier this year is I hit up youtube for high end pc builds and I looked for a case they used that looked good and had minimum issues with installing.

I bought the Silverstone FT02 years ago and I been hating it for the past year. Its so Danny big. My advise, don't buy anything to big, you'll regret in the long run.
