Here is what I intend to buy:The Asus Motherboard for AMD Athlon/XP/Duron Processors, Model# A7N8X Deluxe:
Socket A AMD Athlon/XP/Duron (support AMD XP3000 "Barton")
Chipset: NVIDIA nForce2 SPP, nForce2 MCP-T FSB: 333/266MHz IDE: 2 x ATA133 RAM: 3x 184-pin DIMM Sockets (PC3200/PC2700/PC2100 non-ECC DDR) Slots: 1x AGP (Pro/8X),
5x PCI Ports: 6x USB2.0 Onboard Serial ATA: Silicon Image Sil 3112A Controller w/ 2 ports Onboard Audio:
Realtek ALC650 6-ch w/built in amplifier MCP integrated 3Com MAC + Broadcom AC101L PHY LAN Firewire 1394:
2 Ports MCP-T integrated IEEE 1394a + Realtek PHY 8801B. But what I need to know is, first what is meant by, non-ECC type of ram,
and what kind of CPU\processor is best to make this board run fast for gaming and video editing,
and of course the ram is a question as well, is corsair or keninston, is it better two sticks of 256 or one at 512, ddr pc 3200 (400mhz) non-ECC, the one that I've seen at newegg goes for $52- for one 256.
The power supply will be a min of 420w but I don't know which one is the least noisy, need input please!
PS: I've read quite a lot about this board and it seems that it's the "best" one on the block, if not please tell..... it seems that this board will withstand the upswing of technology for at least a few years and thank you for the help

No way! None of them (current darlings), will be in medium or high end systems 24-36 months from now.

Don't worry much about trying to "future proof" your rig out that far. Just go for the highest quality & featured MB that you can afford right now.

You might as weel get 2 sticks of 512 so you can take advantage of the dual memory feature on the NForce.
I have had good luck with Corsair and Kingston.
If you are going to clock your system and can spend a little extra, get ram with cas 2, not 2.5
Go to the manu's web site and check what memory brand they tested with, may save you some troubleshooting time.

chack, Go with a Barton version XP CPU. The 2500+ is a good deal at $130.00 up to the 3000+ at $320.00. Get two sticks of quality RAM, Corsair, Mushkin etc and if you can afford it get CAS 2.0 for best performance. You want to get at least PC2700 (DDR333) so the ram is in sync with the FSB of the CPU (333MHz.) If you plan on overclocking you may want to go with faster memory (PC3200 - DDR400) so the mem stays in sync with the FSB as you goose it up.
