building a new system - component check?

I'm gonna start buidling a new system, but been out of the scene for a while. I'd really appreciate any help on your opinion on components that I've picked out so far. I want to try and OC a little on air cooling as well:

1. E6300 w/ scythe scinf-1000 cooling
2. Gigabyte ga-965p-ds3
3. corsair xms2 2gb - TWIN2X2048-6400C4 -
4. seagate barracuda 7200.10 320GB
5. eVGA 512-p2-n637-ar geforce 7950gt
6. coolmax 1000w psu ($37 deal)
7. benq 22" lcd(already purchased)

Any good case recommendations? and alternatate component recommendations?

Nice, I see ya got the $37 CoolMax. Deal was dead when I got to it :/.
If you think the gts is too expensive, 8900gs will be good when it arrives.
Otherwise, looks good.

Have you considered a northbridge chipset cooler for the DS3? I heard it gets pretty hot.

a 1000W PSU for $37?? ...1000W. I think I'd go a different route on that Coolmax.

You'll have better luck overclocking with a E6400 because of the higher multi. The DS3 can get quite quirky with higer FSB and the straps for it are not known. I had no luck with overclocking my DS3 and had to change it for a P5B-D.

It looks like a pretty good build!

Just FYI, I have that same RAM in the Gigabyte S3 and it runs great. You shouldn't have any problems at all with it. You will, however, need to adjust the voltage to 2.1v, and manually set the timings to 4-4-4-12. It will initially boot at 1.8v, and 5-5-5-15 I believe.

Also, I went with the XFX 512MB 7950GT, and it runs awesome. I chose this card because it is passively cooled, which equals zero noise. I'l upgrade to a DX10 card as soon as there is a passive option available.

And I had strongly condsidered the Seagate drive, but ended up going with the WD 320GB because it is much quieter. I heard a lot of reviewrs say the noise on the seagate's was loud. So I guess that's soemthing to keep in mind if noise is an issue to you. You won't notice the difference in speed, as some will try to tell you the seagate is faster.

Your PSU is overkill for your specs, but if you already bought it at a good price, then what the heck. Might as well try it out. I can't say anything about the Coolmax brand though, as I have absolutely no experience with them.

As far as case goes, that's totally up to you. I purchased the Cooler Master RC-330 for $30 with a $10 MIR and I love it. Couldn't be happier . Many others have commented how well they like the Centurion 5's.

I have an Antec Sonata II I used to build my wife's pc, and I can honestly say I like my CM 330 much better.
