Building a PC

I am in the midst of building a PC, which will contain the following:

Aopen Midtower 300ps
Aopen 845GV P4 533mhz, 533
Intel p4-2.66gz, 512/533 RT
Kingston 256 DDR 333
WD 40GB U100/7200/8M
Liteon cd/re - DVD combo
Price 800.00

17inch LCD monitors = 450.00

the desktop will run on MS XPpro, 3yr warranty on both parts and labor. Also I have worked with the seller before, and is pretty good about support.

I am wondering if this is a good recipe for the money or is can I get better parts for approximately the same costs. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

You could get an Athlon XP- 2500 and save him some money. Even OC it to 3200 with PC3200 ram. He'd think you were great.
40 GB HD is not much if your into ripping movies, video etc.

i agree the 2500+ is a much better way to go for the money, and if you watch for sales at Dell you can get an 18" or 19" lcd for 450.

This 17" LCD for $300 is worth considering. Google a bit. Supposedly the specs are really good, and the only supposed drawbacks are the VGA connection and the brand.
