Building a sub box for my car, what's your plan for completely joining MDF?

I'll be building a box for the Adire Shiva subwoofer for use in my 91 CRX. I've been educated on pilot holes and countersinking, now it's time for MDF bonding. Most people have said to use liquid nails to temporarily bond the MDF, then drill the pilot/countersink holes, proceed to fill THOSE holes with liquid nails, then finally drilling the screws into those holes. After that, seal the corners with silicone?

Some even added that i should line the inside of the box with a certain substance, but i can't remember what it was, does anyone know?

If you're interested, i'll be building the 25.5 liter box found Here on Page 13.

yes, pilot hole is just a small predrilled hole for the screws... countersink is a big hole that doesn't go too deep, for the screw head to sink into so it would be flush with the wood

What's the need for this? Can't you just drill the screw flush into the wood?

Yes, but sometime that will strip the hole and it doesn't look as good.

Okay, now how would you go about making a countersink? Is it just another predrilled hole, but this time with a larger bit, but just not as deep?

I'd just go with a bit that's the same diameter as the screw head and drill that 1/4 or 1/8 deep over the pilot.

Ahh, i get it now, thanks for the clarification. Darn, would a dremel be able to cut through 3/4 MDF easily and without spending 4 hours, or will i need a jigsaw?

For the round cut I'm assuming? You'd be better off going with a jigsaw or bandsaw if you have access to one. That's a pretty thick cut for a dremel.

So that's what a countersink is! I've seen it before, just didn't know what it was!

Yeah, for a second there i forgot that the radius of my dremel disks are a little less than half an inch
