Building an RCA & stereo jack bus.

I need a little bit of help or advice with a panel I'm about to build. I intend to play console games in a window on my new Shuttle XPC, but for convenience I want to turn the 3.5 inch bay into a "plug bus" and run the cables through the box internally, and then out the back to plug into the Shuttle's USB and audio ports (hopefully I can manage to do this internally), as well as my Happauge card.

Basically, it will have the following connections:

For Hauppauge PVR250 (routed through the system and out the back to plug into the card):

RCA video in.

Stereo in.

For gaming:

RCA video in.

RCA audio left.

RCA audio right.

In other words, a total of 5 plugs - two to feed AV into the Hauppauge more conveniently, and three for console connections.

Here's my dilemma. I'm not sure how best to secure the RCA inputs and single stereo input plug to the bay panel and I need suggestions on how to mount them so that they are secure and the bay doesn't need to be repaired after repeated use.

I'm using standard cables/plugs. If there's something better suited - like RCA video and audio inputs mounted on a bracket (similar to what you'd find on the front of a TV, receiver, and VCR) that I can mount securely to the panel, and plug the cables into the back, that would be even better. But I don't know where to find such a thing.

Ideas?

So that's what they're called! Thank you, I didn't know what I needed to be searching for.

Although, none of the ones I'm seeing have standard RCA outs on the back of the plug - and I'm not certain how to connect the cables to the back without them.

I opened up an RCA cable I had laying around and noticed it was composed of copper wires wrapped in a plastic coating, wrapped with copper wires, wrapped with the cable coating.

For someone not familiar with wiring... Any idea how wires are typically connected to the backs of panel mount RCA jacks?

i bought some of these
and these

just have to solder some wires to it.

I'm not too sure but I think rca cables are like coax cables, there's an inner core and an outter core, like what you described, the current runs in oppisit directions. so it's kinda like positive and negative. when you make your own wires, just connect the centers together and the outter together.

hope that helped.
