Building Around a 560ti

Hello!

I am looking at replacing my current GPU (an EVGA Nvidia 560ti) with a new GPU and I want to use the 560ti and build a new system around it for my lady to use and play games with. The goal here is to pick parts that will complement the 560ti perfectly in order to get the cheapest system. I am not super up-to-date on parts and so I was hoping some more knowledgeable folks such as yourselves would be able to help!

I am thinking maybe an Intel i3 of some sort would be fast enough, and maybe 4-8 gigs of ram. I'd love to hear recommendations on all parts including PSU and mobo! Thanks in advance!

Looks like you're [thread=2389797]a low-end gaming system builder[/thread]. Those are a couple of general ideas. She'd probably appreciate having an SSD in the system too.

But it would also help if you could answer [thread=80121]these questions[/thread].

Hi Ken!

Thank you for pointing out the questions. Here are some answers!

1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.

Games! Blizzard games, Battlefield 4, CS:GO... stuff like that.

2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread

The cheapest possible build that will maximize the 560ti. Preferably under $500, but less is better.

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.

USA

4. IF you're buying parts OUTSIDE the US, please post a link to the vendor you'll be buying from.
We can't be expected to scour the internet on your behalf, chasing down deals in your specific country... Again, help us, help YOU.

n/a

5. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc.

Not in particular.

6. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.

A GeForce 560ti.

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.

Default should do.

8. What resolution, not monitor size, will you be using?

1080p

9. WHEN do you plan to build it?
Note that it is usually not cost or time effective to choose your build more than a month before you actually plan to be using it.

Within next month.

10. Do you need to purchase any software to go with the system, such as Windows or Blu Ray playback software?

Just windows.

I hope this helps!

If you wanted to get an overclockable Pentium and overclock it, you could go cheaper. I would keep an SSD, though.

Ken,

That looks like a pretty nice build! Thank you for helping to pick out some nice parts to complement the 560ti. If anyone else has any other input they'd like to throw in feel free! I'll probably make the purchase next week. :sneaky:

Just FYI, and with all respect to Ken, I'd go a little higher on the PSU... say 500-550W, with that GTX560Ti. Granted, I run mine with the exact PSU Ken spec'd, but it's only streaming video, not gaming. I never had a crash when I was benching the GTX560Ti 448/CX430 combo, but I don't think it's something I would recommend for a gaming rig.

Something like this Corsair CX500M...

I thought I did. I definitely should. I must have confused this with the other build I did today.
