Building Cheap Duron Systems -- What components to use?

Hi there again,

I would like to build a couple of cheap Duron systems with about a 750Mhz processor (about $40). My question to you is what motherboard should I get (preferably one with onboard sound) and what other components would you recommend to build a cheap computer with.

BTW - My price range is under $500 for each before monitor.

Maybe you could give us an idea of what you want to do with the computer. Play games? Surf the web? Run a server? Do you want to overclock? What about audio and video? Do you need a CD-RW? Please list the components you need and we'll help you from there.

sound - muse or value - 40
hsf - 10? maybe less for stock or for free =)

The IWill KK266 is a nice board with very good on board sound.

Sorry for not being more specific. Both of the machines will be used for servers, web browsing, and full-screen DivX. Possibly some games.

They will definetly need audio, although nothing too fancy, just enough for MP3s and Divx/MPGs

They'll both need a CD-ROM, and floppy.

I may look into the possibility of overclocking them in the future, but not right away. It would be nice, but not extremely necessary.

my 2nd post should do well for your proposed tasks. just add a 25$ cdrom from the f's forum. tnt2 can handle games or you can go to radeon LE or MX
