my suggestion:
CPU : Use P3 800E instead of 800EB, won't be able to overclock using 800EB.
CDRW: Try Plextor, Yamaha or even Iomega.

I second that...

800E is definitely better. (actually T-bird 1ghz at same price is better but we won't go into that)

Plextor drives are better only if you get the 12x version. The sony 8x reads CD's much better than the plextor.

consider getting ACS56's because they sound better esp in high volumes.

Maybe consider getting CAS 2 ram.

That's about it everything else looks good.

I would go AMD if this option is still open. Regarding the items listed, I would go with the 800eb if this system is not going to be overclocked otherwise I agree with the others, an 800e will leave some overclocking room. For a case, it is hard to beat the Antec 830SX. I also would go for CL2 memory since it is a little faster and a regular CD-ROM is a good idea in addition to the CDR. Good luck.

I agree with Nessism about the 800eb. If you will not overclock, then the system will run slightly faster with an 800eb since it will run at 133 FSB and the RAM will run faster than at 100FSB. May I recommend a better graphics card? Don't get me wrong, the MX is a good value for the money, but that 800 CPU will show off much better say with a GTS or a Radeon. Not too much money either.

My 2 cents.

my only opinion is about the v.card. im one of thhose guys that are really fussy about their v.cards, so if i can make a suggestion go with the geforce 256 DDR.... i know its a steap down but it beats the hell out of the MX..... i dont know if u can find a 256 DDR with tv-out though...(if it matters that much)

Unless he's got the cash to go with geforce 2 GTS ... in that case go UP!

I would recommend the MSI 815E Pro motherboard, and Kingmax PC150 RAM.

toxicrage are you joking? the mx is better than the 256ddr. also if you do go w/ his decision [which i hardly doubt and don't agree with] you can get an elsa 256ddr w/ tv out.

for the cdrw option...i would definitely recommend you look for a deal on a cdrw with burnproof. you missed last week's iomega deal at compusa.

you're probably not gonna be an overclocker since you're going with CL3 ram. if you are you should know that CL2 is better for OCing. also since ram is extremely cheap now, why not spend another 50-70 bucks for 256mb of ram. it's worth it if you use photoshop and play games.

for the case, i would recommend the antec sx830 or the sx1030. i have the sx830 and for me it's perfect. you can find it on onvia for 80-90 bucks.

for the keyboard, why not get the microsoft internet keyboard. it's selling for 20 at onvia. the logitechs to me are so loud and clacky

for speakers...i don't know how much you're spending on the altec lansings but i would recommend cambridge soundworks fps2000. it has 4 satallites and a nice subwoofer. you can get it for 100 bucks.

also if the option is still there...i would definitely suggest building an athlon system. for the price you're paying for the 800, you can get a 1ghz thunderbird. and for the motherboard go for a msi k7t pro2a. it's about the same price as the asus cusl2-c
