I run a sapphire x850xt and it definately o/c's well, and the default cooler works very efficiently. Would definatley be a good move for ya.

The same card is even cheaper at NewEgg....

ASUS A8N-E Motherboard-$109
x800gto2 (didn't you know you can tweak the pixel pipelines to 16?)-$187
Forton 500watts power supply-$91

^ suggestions but the rest look good. ;-]

Hmm, $196.00 for a card you will need to alter, or $209.00 for a card which already has 16 pipes and O/C's even better......

I will agree with the ram though, but the Asus A8N-E, while a good board also is more expensive....

that's why i wanted the X800GTO2, wanted to make it into a X850XTPE

i don't feel like spending $20 on a motherboard that won't give me any noticable performance difference

i like my ram and psu

i'll eventually get 2GB so i don't think 4 sticks would be good

Is this the FSP PSU you were suggesting, or is there a different one?
FSP Group AX500-A

Thanks

I guess it isn't the same one, but there was some speculation that Ultra power supplies were rebranded Powmax, which are crap.

For that amount of money, I'd get a power supply from a company with a better reputation...

did you mean Enermax? I don't know the brand Enhance.

Some nice PSU's are:

FSP, or Sparkle, or Enermax, or Antec, or SeaSonic, or OCZ, or Silverstone

True, I have a habit of avoiding Newegg because they have a distribution center in TN, thus, I have to pay sales tax there. So, I shop at ZZF, which often has better prices than the egg anyways.

Hey, anyone else have strange experiences with shipping from Newegg via UPS. They always just leave the stuff sitting on my doorstep.

I come home and there is like $300 worth of PC parts just sitting on the steps!!! Is Fedex any better?

You can still use FedEx, it just seems UPS offered them a better deal. As for signing, both have left items at my front door for years now.......don't really like it but the alternative would be not getting my packages because most days nobody is home until after 5 at least. Another reason I actually like USPS. I get a note in the mail and can pick them up at the office....

how much do you think the X2 3800+ will be worth (retail) by the end of this yr when AM2 has been around for a few months? i'm thinking over if i should just get a cheap 3200+ for like $130ish and getting X2 3800+ cheaper later. but if i do wait, i know the 3200+ will be worth <$100 by then (maybe as low as $80s)

do u know remember how much 3200+ (Venice) was worth when it first launched? i'm trying to see how much CPUs depreciate. if u were to guess, would u say X2 3800+ would be less than $200?

i'll be keeping this CPU for at least 2-3 years, but i've gotten a deal on everything i've bought except this at $300 (which is a lot imo)

this guy was saying he bought a X850XT for like $430 last June and i bought mine last night for $170 -$15 rebate (that's $270 in depreciation)

anyways, i'm just trying to see how CPUs depreciate compared to GPUs (i've never followed prices on CPUs)
