First things first. I live about a mile and a half from Microcenter, and I work about 2 miles from Frys, so I would like to use one of these two places to get my supplies as I am too impatient to deal with shipping.

Here is what I have so far:

Abit IP35-e motherboard
E4500 CPU(also have old Asus amazing triton 79 cooler laying around)
2gb OCZ ram
Case

My plans:

Use this to run Windows Home Server(already have the software as I have a technet account). I want to keep my computers backed up as I have important work stuff on them that gets updated daily. I would like to buy the rest of the parts I need without spending a whole lot of money.

Here is what I came up with. I am hoping for suggestions and/or critiques.

PSU - Enermax ECO +80 400watt - $44.79

Microcenter link
It says quiet and not too bad on the power bill. I hear all the right things, but does it deliver all the right things?

Video Card - GeForce 7200GS - $24.99

Microcenter link

Just need a cheap video card since the Abit does not have on board.

Hard Drive - WD 1tb green - $69.99

Microcenter link

I know the black is faster, but green is $20 less and supposedly uses less power.

Optical Drive - Samsung 22x - 19.99

Microcenter link

Just getting this to install software. I don't feel like moving the one from my other computer if I have to install something.

TIA

I think everything looks good if your reusing those older parts. Cheaper the better I say.

I have a 1tb wd green and a 1tb samsung green in my WHS and they are plenty fast. I'd recommend two disks if you can swing it though. It's nice to be able to mirror your most important directories.

Just to avoid any confusion, though, having two disks in WHS won't provide any additional redundancy if the WHS server is only being used to make backups of client PCs. It'll only provide a redundancy option for shared folders being stored on WHS.

That is a good point, I might get another HD, cause eventually I will put movies and such on the WHS that I want to have access to from all my computers.

Thanks for the help guys.
