Hello: I want to build a simple media center that will simply play and output to my 65 inch 16:9 TV, my stock pile of compressed DVD's which I now play on my computer LCD monitor using Power DVD or Divx Player. I have a multi CD changer which matches my stereo component system that I don't use. I have gutted it. It is large enough to hold a motherboard, power supply, harddrives and DVD player in case I just want to play a rental. I like the idea of having a remote control like the one used with Micro$oft's Media Center OS, but am not 100% sold on the OS itself. Maybe someone can suggest another software package with remote that can be run on the XP OS. I also will need a high quality video-to-tv output card; perferred with component outputs. Next would be sound output. My sound system excepts up to 7.1 in/out. If the motherboard will output high quality sound without too much drain on the cpu then Ok. If not I don't mind putting in a top quality soundcard...suggestions please. Again, this system will be dedicated to the best DVD output to TV I can afford (keyword of course). I'm not interested in TV reception or output or DVR functions. For example, if the ATI AIW video cards are good for the cost, that's fine, but my main concern is video output.
