Well, I haven't bought anything yet, and I wanted to get some input on this. It's my first computer to buy not pre-built. I've heard good enough things from AxionTech.com, so I'm going to shop mostly there. Along with a stop at Directron.com.

Anyways, here is what I have in mind. Let me know if I'm missing something, or if something isn't right or won't work together.

AOpen MK7A - $150.00 @ AxionTech.com
http://www.axiontech.com/cgi-local/prdtinfo.asp?prdt=MBACMK7A

AMD Athlon 1GHz would you suggest a shim? - 1.33GHz - $153.95 ~ $198.95 @ AxionTech.com http://www.axiontech.com/cgi-local/prdtinfo.asp?prdt=PRAMTB13006O

GlobalWIN FOP38 HSF or something else? suggestions? Tasoi?(sp?) maybe - $18.95 @ AxionTech.com
http://www.axiontech.com/cgi-local/prdtinfo.asp?prdt=ACGWFOP38

Enlight 300W Athlon PSU - $27.95 @ AxionTech.com
http://www.axiontech.com/cgi-local/prdtinfo.asp?prdt=PSENATX300

Crucial PC2100 256MB DDR SDRAM - $74.79 @ Crucial.com
http://www.crucial.com/store/partspecs.asp?imodule=CT3264Z265

In-Win v500 microATX - $35.00 @ Directron.com
http://www.directron.com/v500microatx.html

IDE 66/100 Grey Rounded Cables - $10.00 @ Directron.com
http://directron.com/roundide.html

Floopy Grey Rounded Cables - $10.00 @ Directron.com
http://directron.com/roundfloppy.html

These prices are what I got from the sites, they may have changed also. Some stuff isn't listed, because I already have it, or I just forgot/didn't know I needed it. Any suggestions for a HSF and other things? Comments? Tell me what I need to do!

Thanks!

<< AOpen MK7A - $150.00 @ AxionTech.com >>

I would recommend the MSI K7 Master but the Aopen will do ok...not sure why you are going for a micro ATX mobo though.

<< AMD Athlon 1GHz would you suggest a shim? - 1.33GHz - $153.95 ~$198.95 @ AxionTech.com >>

If you are overclocking go for a 1ghz AXIA rated processor. If you are not overclocking get the 1.33ghz processor

<< GlobalWIN FOP38 HSF or something else? suggestions? Tasoi?(sp?) maybe - $18.95 @ AxionTech.com

The FOP38 does a pretty good job, but you had BETTER be prepared for the noise - and I mean alot of noise. I couldn't believe how annoying the Delta fan that comes on that heatsink as well as many others is. Not only is it the loudness of it, but it is also high pitched. I would say go for a Thermaltake Volcano II heatsink if your overclocking. If you are not overclocking, a Taisol would do just fine.

<< Enlight 300W Athlon PSU - $27.95 @ AxionTech.com >>

That 300w supply should do just fine.

<< Crucial PC2100 256MB DDR SDRAM - $74.79 @ Crucial.com >>

Excellent choice. I would go for 512mb of DDR if you have enough cash.

<< In-Win v500 microATX - $35.00 @ Directron.com >>

Ok so I see you are going for a micro ATX case and mobo...why? Lower airflow (really important if overclocking), more cramped, less expansion options. It does take up less space of course, is space at a premium where you are?

<< IDE 66/100 Grey Rounded Cables - $10.00 @ Directron.com >>

No argument here, rounded cables are sweet.

<< Floopy Grey Rounded Cables - $10.00 @ Directron.com >>

I think you meant FLOPPY Again, see my comment above.

You said you already have the other stuff (vid card, sound card, monitor, and speakers I am assuming). What exactly will this computers purpose be? Is it a gaming computer, for business use, or what?

Anyway, looks like it is shaping up to be a sweet rig. Only other suggestion I have is checking out www.newegg.com before buying since they always have some great prices and also excellent resellerratings.com reviews.

-i may get another 256 stick after a little working ($)
-i think i will be ok with the delta's noise
-im not going to overclock any, 1.33 it is
-i want a small computer, i plan to put 2 or 3 fans in also (300w still ok?)

-would you suggest a shim?
-really, i would like to get a little smaller hsf. any suggestions there?

I would go for a taisol CGK 760 instead of the FOP38, and well do you already have the vid card, sound card, hard drive and speakers?
