Building new computer

Its been 7 years since I have upgraded my system. I am involved with creating tutorial videos for medical professionals. Basically, I have been surviving with my current system for some time now, but I need to upgrade. I have a dell precision 530, operating windows 2000, 2.2 ghz processor, 785 MB RAM, with Adobe premiere 6.0, with a canopus dvstorm video card.

I want to upgrade to Adobe Premiere CS 3, and was considering a system:

2.4 GHz dual core processor
150 gb WD Raptor
2 gb RAM
Nvidia 7600GT

I am not sure what power supply to get, chassy.

Its been a while since i have been involved with designing my own system, any help would be much appreciative. I am looking at keeping the system below 3,000.

You should meet your goal of under $3000 by a pretty good margin.

Intel Core 2 Duo - $223

WD 150gb Raptor - $200

Asus P5N-E SLI - $129

Super Talent 2gb ddr2 667 - $79

Enermax Liberty 500w PSU - $120

EVGA 7600GT - $96

That's not including the rebates for some of the products.

About $850 and a nice chunk left for your case, monitor, etc.

Just letting you know I have had great service from them.

One other thing to look at.... I just got the Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R last week and realy like the board. It has DDR2 and DDR3 slots and solid caps.

Wait 10 days more till the price drop on the Intel Core 2 Duo then buy what ever you want. Also, dont get SLI mobo if you dont use it. Therefore go for the Asus P5K

This is probably just an uninformed question. But with my current canopus dv storm , i have a svideo out, so I can visualize both on my LCD and my SVIDEO the product of my editing.

With the EVGA 7600 can I do the same? I was under the impression that i can, but I was recently told that this might not be true.
