building new pc, gutting old dell.. need some advice

Does dell use the standard hookups (is it universal?) to connect it's cd drives to power/mobo because I am building a kickass new system and gutting my dell beacuse I cant afford ALL new parts so I have to use the disk drives and video card. So my question is, on a dell Demension 8250 can I just simply remove the dvd/cd-rw drives and plug em into my new custom built system? Thanks in advance for any advice. I have never built a machine and am a bit of a newb so sorry for any incompitence, just hoping I can easily remove both drives from the dell and place them in my new system without massive hassle.

btw for those curious my new powerhouse is:

AMD 64bit fx-53
4x 512 (2 gigs) Kingston pc-4000 memory
Radeon 9700 pro (from dell)
Xaser III full tower case 7fans firewire/usb/window/neons
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS

Also might add I plan on upgrading to an nf4 or similar for pci:e and other features and hope my memory carries over.. I know fx support is planned I bought such high end parts beacuse I plan to make it all last until my college at least (with only a few upgrades) and I am a very avid gamer and play the cutting edge stuff (like hl2, ut2k4, jointops, cs:source) and want great fps for awhile to come

old dell:
2.4 p4 non-ht
512rd rambus
radeon 9700pro
audigy 2 zs

both sound and vid card plus dvd/cd-rw drives are all goin into new dream system

Yes no problem but you need a new PSU, may I recommend a OCZ 470 or enermax 465, they have great power for your needs. Also for AMD 64 the best memory out is Ballistix made in US by crucial see anands review. Only the micron chips perfrom as well on both AMD and intel boards.

I missed you're using new case/PSU...thought you wanted a dell case with amd inside

Anyway those timings are terrible AND will perform even worse on AMD because they use Samsung IC's see here...same IC's but differnt moduleshttp://www.anandtech.com/memory/showdoc.aspx?i=2145

... ballistix, on the other hand, can do 2.5-3-3 at that speed with AMD 64.

sounds like i'm goin with balistics, thanks! I just hope they have good shipping etc. because I was going to get everything off of newegg. Does my case PSU look good for my needs? do I need extra cooling at all?

you buying the fx-53 ClawHammer ?? ..as the mobo
you've linked is 939 pin not 940 like with the SledgeHammer
chips..that memory in the linked Abit should be fine tho..gl
p.s. what's so wrong with the Dell that it needs gutting..?

hahahahhahah u talk about timings like they really mean something. timings dont matter. unless ur an idiot that cares about millliseconds. no timing is bad. unless its pre pc100. that's what i call bad timing.
