I wish I had time to do the research, but I'm working full-time, prepping for college (and having to brush up on Calc 1-3, Physics 1-2, Chem 1-2, and a few other courses after a 10yr layoff, with five months to catch up on all of it), have kids, and don't have enough hours in the day as it is.
I'd say you really need to decide what your priorities are. If playing computer games comes out on top, buy the best computer you can find.
On the other hand, you mentioned going to college, and kids. Maybe you even have a wife.
I don't mean to be unkind, but please consider what you really want to pursue. You may find some of these are more important than games and computers.
