lets turn this into a discussion on the relative merits of communism!

See, where marx was wrong, was in the fact, that heavily industrialized nations provide a high enough standard of living so that the "proletriat" isn't going to rise up. No worker strike, no revolution. In modern times, the only class of people who had such a crappy life that they would over throw the gov't were the peasnts of russia and china.

I would argue otherwise - granted, yes, the standard of living has gone up, there are "safety"nets for people that fall behind (we won't argue the merits about that . . . for now) but look at Wal-Mart, for instance - they heavily oppose the unions that are supported by the wrokers, and that is the standard model of most big corporations - true the living conditions aren't miserable where they are starving and freezing to death (literally), but the common workers would be feeling (in my mind) like that the higher-ups are profiting from their seat and blood, which they see a scant portion of. And to a certain degree, I would agree - also, I would argue that what Marx was referring to *is* happening right now as we speak in the US - the public backing of unions is starting to rise, and the economic culture, generall speaking, is chanign its paradigm.

A lot of people mistake Philosophy as a "system that needs to be implemented in society"; that couldn't be more wrong - it is merely a "description" of why things have happened this way, explaining the reason via logic, and using the said logic, forecasting the future.

Having said that, I believe, to a certain degree, that Marx is right. So far.

The US backing of unions is rising? WTF are you talking about. I live in perhaps the most unionized city in the world, and UAW membership is stagnant, if not dropping. unions are stupid anyways. Why do you think that GM is moving all these jobs overseas? Because a bunch of people are getting paid $25 an hour to put bolts on cars! I do more work at friggin' mc donalds, getting paid minimum wage! And the general public is too cowed, to attached to the material conforts they have right now, to over throw the gov't. And quite frankly, the poor are too damn stupid to do it either.

I'm always happy when my randomly picked teammates on XBL have Southern accents. Invariably if they don't understand a game type, they'll actually politely ask. More often though they're great shots and team players.

TO THE SOUTH!

Notsomuch in policy, but in attitude IMO - honestly, I think it's part of a backlash against large corporations taking over: regardless, to respond to said backlash, the corporations *are* changing the warketplace for workers to foreign markets.

As far as economies are concerned, do you think that the US economy is going to prosper or to fail due to outsourcing? I believe in the fomer more than the latter - then, I would poetentially argue, unless the nations consolidate their economies into a world economy (which I think it'll take place much too late) that the US would have to reinvent policies (after it has drained the citizens as much money) on company-worker relationsships. The dynamic changes once again!

I feel your pain, pingspike. I bought the deluxe box set at a best buy sale for 10 bucks. I have it installed but don't really play it. I need to find that mythical CS arena where the teams are balanced, no script kiddies with wall hacks, and please, please move the mouth off of the mic if you want to be understood.

Thats why you play on servers where you know everyone. And having admin to boot is a big help too.

I play a game every now and then (game with HL2).

haven't really had any problems, and I just play random servers.

its tought to break into though, as its populated with people that have been playing CS since it came out. I can usually get about 3 kills to 4 deaths though.

Welcome to the lameness that is the counter-strike world. It would be halfway fun if it weren't all twelve year olds anymore. Good luck finding a good server that is relatively preteen free. There are some decent servers out there I guess.
