Built new PC - Bad Memory?

Built a new PC last night and loaded W7 64 bit.

Ran into a few issues but got it installed. However, I keep getting BSOD memdump errors. I ran memtest86 and got a bunch of errors. However, I tested the memory on another machine and it passed no problem. Not sure which direction to head in. Thought the memory was bad but doesn't appear to be so now. I do have the latest drivers for my video card installed.

My first thoughts would be to go barebone completely and try the memory. Normally if you get beeping noises... there is a strong chance of it being the memory. However from what it sounds like... you are making it past POST.

Chances are that it is the motherboard. Cheap ASRock boards have always given me problems in the past. That is why I go a bit deeper in the pocket and get a quality board. Not cutting you down on the purchase... just saying you will get the bang for the buck if you go cheap.

Try barebone and see if it gives you the memdump error. Also, the code you get on the BSOD would help alot. If it is an IRQ error, then it strongly suggests a driver compatibility issue with the hardware.

Thanks for the advice. And yes, I'm able to boot into windows and it runs fine. It normally crashes when I try to run/install an application.

It is pretty barebones already, I don't have any peripherals or anything hooked up. My sound card could be the problem too, it's a sound blaster audigy gamer. I installed drivers and I have sound, but windows keeps telling me it's incompatible (even though I use windows 7 drivers off creatives website).

I could try using the onboard audio, but was having problems getting that to work. I can't see the sound card causing a mem test to fail though? Like you said, if anything, could be cheap mobo.

If your memory is on this this, it's defective.

If it isn't on that list it's incompatible.

Thank you very much for that list, KGBMAN! I got some memory from work and it performed beautifully in my computer, so the original ram I purchased just isn't compatible with my ASrock mobo (it isn't on that compatability list). I'm buying some memory off that list as soon as newegg refunds me.
