Can anyone recommend a bulk photo printing website? To print over 500 photos, probably closer to 1000.

I had a conversation with my better half and we were reminiscing how we used to both go through our family albums and shoe boxes full of photos when we were younger. Since we're starting a family this year, we want to have hard tangible copies of all the photos we have now since we started dating as well as future photos.

Any help would be awesome.

I would not do that on-line. I would take it to Costco.

I for myself am so glad to be out of those days of thousands of printed pictures, forever waiting to be sorted and filed, and then no easy way of going thru them.

I'd think you could do better with using a good, robust photo management program to name, tag and organize your pictures, with star ratings if needed, and then printing a select few from them, keeping the others digitally available for easy access and even printing as needed. I use Picasa, but there are many as good or even better, particularly if you are ready to pay a nominal price.

The next step could be to invest in a digital photo frame. They are getting better each year; I bought one for my parents a couple of years ago - it accepted SDHC cards and usb-flash-drive input, and displayed pictures with configurable timing and selections. You get to see different pictures every minute, and change the set any time.

I might be hard-pressed to pick 500 pictures I'd want to print and organize from the past 10 years of my life, let alone 1000 (to look on screen, yes; to print, no so much). That would work out to at least 20 big sized albums, maybe much more.

Of course, I might be presumptuous :you might have better pictures, or be better organized than me. But that was my two-bit.

Check your local prices against snapfish. My wife and I have printed ~9-10k photos from them in the last 2 yrs with our kids. They have penny prints pretty regularly, but the shipping is $20 for the 200-300 4x6"batch we print each time. Their photo books are pretty reasonable too, I didn't really like them at first, but now that our 1st child is older I really appreciate them, and it's a quick way for my wife to scrapbook.

Do be careful with any of the automated or online services, if you used different cameras. I dont remember the exact issue because my wife usually does this, but I know our Nikon D5000 uses a different aspect than out Kodak point and shoot. If we try to print shots from both in the same batch we get an error about trimming the photos. My wife now keeps the Nikon and Kodak on separate folders, so we dont have that issue.

1st, online(website) is one word.
2nd, Costco? Printing 500-1000 photos...How often do they check what ink that run out?
If someone wants to print @ Costco, I would not go against, go for it - print @ Costco.

I wonder, what difference in prices of printing , let's say on Costco, AdoramaPix or Mpix?

I think, Ken Rockwell should make a commercial about printing @ Costco.

The whole idea is to have something to touch, hold, etc.

Any other suggestions?

you can touch and hold a tablet

And so much easier to remove finger prints from.

I almost bought a digital frame a few years ago, I'm so glad I didn't and use my tablet for displaying photos, when not in use. It auto syncs with my online albums, so no need to ever upload an image twice and no resizing, yay.
