It is of my opinion that the internet needs a ESRB rating. Who's with me?!

It's Fox News. They always do this crap.

Also I don't understand how we can enforce ESRB ratings more so than we already are. The kids that play M rated games are getting an adult to buy the games for them. There's nothing you can do about that. The article says there are no penalties for selling violent games to kids. If a retailer gets caught selling an M rated game to an underage kid they get heavily fined. I find it interesting they just say violent games which could include T rated games and not say Mature rated games so they can fit things to their agenda.

That article makes Dailytech look like actual journalism.

That being said, I certainly wouldn't want my children to play that game.

Were are these sexual scenes in videos games anyway? The absolutely cringe inducing dry humping scenes from Mass effect or Dragon age? I'd classify that as anti-porn..

I did my best not to romance anyone to avoid that stupid shit.

It's pretty easy to offend stupid people. Most of the time they don't even know what they're getting offended about, as is the case here. The whole "OMG WHAT IF MY KIDS SEE THAT!?!?!?!" argument is from parents who don't know how to control their children. It is entirely up to the parents to police what their children do or do not see, regardless of the age rating. If you don't think something is appropriate for your child, don't let them see it.

It's shit like this that makes me hate humans.

I wish that poor excuse for a news site allowed comments in their "articles".

Well, I am bored of my games. Time to go blasting people in real life. Oh wait, that doesn't happen. Idiots.

EDIT: Nevermind, I found their hidden comments section.

No, they don't.

Adherence to ESRB rating is purely on a volunteer basis.

That's what I thought. It could be enforced like liquor. ID or GTFO. If parents want to buy M rated games for their kids that's their call, same as the way some parents let their kids watch R rated movies.

Was Fox the one that claimed Mass Effect 1 had hardcore porn scenes in it? (As opposed to the actual few seconds of semi-nudity before the fade to black.)

"Plenty of emotionally unstable adults will play the game and they’ll be fine."

Hell yeah.

When you say "enforced like liquor", I had to double-check to make sure you weren't actually talking about making it illegal. I don't think that's what you meant though. (It would be against the first amendment anyway.)

Guys, the MPAA is a private organization. They are not affiliated with the government in any way. They brow beat theaters into keeping kids from R movies but thats it. Its all business, no law.

Ditto the ESRB. No law, just business.

And frankly thats EXACTLY how I fucking want it. I do NOT want Uncle Sam stepping in and telling me what I can and cannot see.

I simply meant ID's should be checked to make sure the person buying is of age. If a retailer is found to be selling to underage kids they should be fined.

Topics like these are why i have absolutely no respect for psychologists. They are some of the dumbest fuckin people on this earth if they truly believe video games cause the problems they claim.

Psychologists are in worse shape than the people theyre trying to help.

American media is sensationalist garbage. It goes both ways. Both parties suck and all the media outlets are on the payroll of one or the other.
