Pic is kind of bad, but really the bump is really mild. It's on the rear and the owner says that at 45mph+ there is a constant bumping audible from this. Tires are pretty new, so not replacing is ideal at this point.
I told him he probably had a warranty, since it's only two months old. Do you feel it's any kind of a short-term safety problem? Obviously it's hard to say such a thing and then see me come back posting about how due to your advice the guy died when his tire blew up, but I mean what's your guess?
Yep, most likely a belt seperating. I would get it fixed now, as structural integrity of a tire isn't something to take lightly. It should be covered under warranty, and with a tire that new they may not even prorate it any for wear.
Suprised to see that on a Michelin.
It is a separation and a blow-out is probable but it could be run quite awhile w/o real issue. My advice?....replace it ASAP.
i posted a similar question to this a few years ago, it occurs on all 5 of my Goodyear Wrangler RT/S's. i was told it was an overlap in the steel belts and not an issue to be concerned about.
