I'm not sure I'd be that hard on it.

At least it has a PCIe x16 slot, meaning that with another stick of RAM and a $40 graphics card this machine would more than hold its own.

probably not, celeron chips and core 2 duo will require different motherboards.

Wonder why it only supports the E4x series. I had been thinking voltage requirements but if it can juice a Pentium D 9xx it can certainly juice any Core 2.

haven't unboxed it yet, but i'm gonna toss a 8400 or 8500 on here and a cheap 2x1gb kit of ram plus the xbox360 hd-dvd player and replace my HTPC (aging 9600 vanilla, 2.8ghz p4, 2x512 pc3200)

I wonder if you replace the CPU if it would disable Vista? One of my first learning experiences about Microsoft antipiracy was on a Compaq PC when I replaced the motherboard, it disabled the Windows XP. Had to buy a new XP to load.

I also see a P4 instead of a Celeron. Not a bad price if you need slightly more power.
