Why pay .99 when for only $27.50 (+tax, +tip) I can get a hamburger WITH fries from the DB cafe here in NYC!!

It's true!

Even the cheap, never cut you a deal BK in our small town has them for .99 for the first time. Maybe this is their final attempt to send McDonalds the way of 3dfx and Cyrix.

Just my 2 cents for the ultimate cheapos out there like me. If you refuse to pay 35 cents extra for a slice of cheese (lets face it, a whopper without cheese (or any burger without cheese) just plain sucks) here's what I do: unwrap the TOP only part of your own individually wrapped singles, microwave it for 5 seconds and bring it with you, it seems to stay just the right melted consistency for placement on the burger by the time you get there. Make sure you flip the burger upside down, remove the BOTTOM bun, and place directly on the meat. Just don't let anyone see you doing this or they will know just how much of a cheapskate you really are. A co-worker caught me microwaving a slice of cheese once and said "IS THAT ALL YOU'RE EATING FOR LUNCH???" hehehe... Needless to say, I didn't explain. I also bring my own 16 cent can of coke with me, in case you were wondering... (that's how much they cost on sale in a 12 pack). And chips, not fries

Hehe, you know I work with someone like you. He spends a dollar(and only a dollar) on lunch everyday. Somedays he goes without lunch for lack of something on sale for a dollor. He will look around on the floor for loose change if we do a pop run.

Cool! That means a person can eat for only three bucks a day plus a vitamin pill. You can take all the money you save and invest it in an angioplasty (sp?).

But seriously, there was an article about this in the local paper. It is a national marketing campaign to counter McDonalds Big&Tasty at $0.99. It barely passed a vote by the franchisees. Supposedly the new CEO of Burger King isn't thrilled with it either - he doesn't believe in price wars in the food business (diverts their attention away from providing a quality dining experience - really) - so this may be a limited-time offer.

99 cent whoppers are a hot deal.
Just tell them to microwave it to be sure.

I have had excellent whoppers and not so excellent whoppers.
Depends what restuarant you stop at and who does the fixing.

I like mine hot with plenty of pepper on it, oh yea, and no onions.

They have been running this deal for many years now.
I always think they will eventually have to raise the sale price.

If you are hungry, you really can't beat this deal.
Just to be sure, order two.

As far as the controversy over "bad" food at fast food places.
Just hire a lawyer to litigate your weight gain, bad heart, diebetis and general poor health.
That will make you feel better.

You gotta be kidding me. The bigntasty tastes horrible. I cant quite describe it, but the "meat" in the bigntasty doesnt quite taste as good as the "meat" in the dbl cheeseburger. Oh, and the whopper is better than both of them.

-Steve

I don't know about horrible, I think the Big'N'Tasty doesn't taste all that bad, but I don't think it tastes like real meat, like you'd find in a flame-broiled (do they still actually do that?) burger. I think McD's got some deal on wholesale vegetarian patties or something, and is selling them off. This coming from someone who has fairly extensive experience eating vegitarian patties, having lived for two years with a vegan couple.

As for the $0.99 Whoppers, damn, now I'm mad. I was just at BK last night, and we ordered two double-cheeseburgers (they used to be on sale for $0.99), and a Grilled Sourdough (I love those, they are still $0.99), and the guy quoted us a price of $7.00-and-something. Wtf? So we asked if the double-cheese were $0.99 (no), but he said something about Whopper Jr. being the same price, so my friend ordered two of those instead. So $3.78 for the total, and when we finally get to the window, he "lost" the grilled sourdough, so that was $1.04 more. But they already made one, it was in the back.. figure that one out. Still not sure how the two Whopper Jr.'s came out to $3.78. Maybe the whopper was on sale, but he didn't say that. For the price, the Whopper Jr.'s should have had cheese on them, but they didn't.
I dunno. That local BK's is staffed by stupid Brazilians that don't speak english. It's a wonder anyone can order anything correctly from there. The Wendy's in that town isn't much better, one time we had to go through the drive-through *three* times, because they couldn't get anything right. Instead of people speaking their orders, there should be a laser-pointer attached to the display sign, and you just point+click your way through the menu, and when it is complete to your satisfaction (with a display screen for your order), you click "OK", and then drive through to pay.

I usually go to the BK's in the mall myself, it is staffed by annoying (but sometimes hot) teenagers, who can actually speak and understand english. It's amazing what a difference in service that makes. I think it should be required for employment in the USofA.

(Please note that I didn't say that all people from Brasil are stupid or cannot speak english, only that the ones that work at the local fast-food joints. Please don't mis-understand.)

then why not say stupid people that can't speak english? because we'd get them confused with average americans?
yahahahaha
went today, but after standing behind TWO people for 15 minutes, stupid cashier (i don't mean all cashiers are stupid , just the ones i deal with ) rang me up for some other whopper meal than the one i was pointing to, then called herself shuffling around to the back to get someone to reset the machine or whatever, got mad, left and got the bign'nasty and some small fries next door
noticed whopper value meal was $2.99 (yes, that was the one i was pointing to ), so i think it's real here

Got one 2day, thanx. I wished I hadn't added fries 'cause they were much more brown than golden. The Wopper was pretty good this time. I've had some soggy crap from BK recently. Wendy's is the freshest, lowest in fat too.

Yet you are all willing to eat crap from all the other restaurants which are equally bad healthwise but you like the taste. I think I'm going to make a new food item for you smart asses. I'm going to call it "Crap that tastes good but is still crap so please shut up." and I'm going to it sell you. Only, I'm going to call it something that sounds tasty and all you smart asses that complain EVERYTHING being crap are going to eat it and like it. In the end though, its still crap only it tastes good and you're all going to die of heart attacks when you're 40 because you have high cholesterol and high blood pressure from sitting down all day thread crapping.

Agreed... these morons need to shut the hell up.

I was at BK the other day and if you guys seriously have so much issue with the unheathiness do what I did or something similar...

Tell them no mayo of course, then...

Take off 1 piece of fat soaked bread(the bottom one is more fat soaked usually since they put the meat directly on). This should cut down on the saturated fat you are intaking! If you want, remove the beef patty, place it on the bread you just removed, take a napkin and press to have more fat leak out. If you want, use more napkins to remove more fat(btw I didn't do the pressing myself...didn't really think of it until later).

Next, hopefully the vegetables aren't soaked in beef fat at this point, if so wipe off with napkin. Now, Piece together 1 top bun piece with sesame seeds and vegetables and ketchup, and lowered fat beef patty(a lot of it should be either in the bottom bread by now or a napkin if you did the pressing...if no pressing at least some soaked into the bottom bread....just look at it) together, and fold up so it's like a flatbread sandwich or hot dog or something...the doubling of the meat like this helps make it easier to eat even though mayo has been cut out!

This should cut not only the fat and cholesterol you intake, but also the excess carbs...of course, if you get a couple free refills you will make up the carb loss so if you like your carbs, go grab another coke =P

Ta Da! You can also get reduced fat mayo if you HAVE to have your mayo.
