Looks like you're pretty gullible when it comes to your "facts" about the meat industry, particularly what national chains put in their burgers. I hope your not this way when the pharmaceutical reps come calling.
I've been buying meat for over twenty years on three different continents and have been in a lot of abattoirs and processing facilities. And put it this way, yes you do get what you pay for and with billions of dollars in equity on the line in share value, the steps that McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy's, Carls' Jr., and yes EVEN Hardees take to protect it is astounding. On top of that there are government product standard of identity requirements to call product "ground beef" or "hamburger". No national chain is going to risk their future on a few pennies saved with adulterated meat even if it could leave the processor with "eyeballs and CNS tissue" in it. You have more to worry about buying burgers from a local mom and pop (not all though) than from a national chain. When you get a burger at McDonald's or Wendy's the beef is from all skeletal trimmings - no head meat, no organ meat and no eyeballs. The efforts that meat processors have to engage in to insure that their products meet customer specifications from both a quality and food safety standpoint are mind boggling if you ever took the time to research them.
BSE resulted from a since outlawed practice of enriching ruminant animal feed with protein rendered from offal (including CNS tissue), downers, blood meal, plate waste and byproducts. This was a STUPID practice that has since been prohibited by the USDA and most of their international equivalents throughout the world.
I could go but I'm be boring most who take the time to read this but suffice it to say Snatchface, you don't know what you are talking about when it comes to how burgers are produced in this country.
