Can anyone suggest some other goods deals while I'm there? Wouldn't mind adding a couple other titles to take the edge off the $5.99 shipping charge.

Edit: I didn't mean to ask for anybody to go shopping for me, though it sure does sound like I did.

Thanks, YelloFiero. Ahead.de sells it for $78, including shipping, so $22 is great. Another way to get Nero 5.5 cheap is through bundles in FAR, $9.99MIR, $19.99MIR CDRW drives. That's how I got my legit CD.

My paranoid side keeps whispering..."what if this OEM version is CDRW-specific?"

I remember a Nero deal a while back where people bought an OEM version and it turned out to work only with a specific CDRW.

Funny thing is I have 3 versions of Nero, and two of them are model-specific. But when I bought the DVD-RW at Staples, I finally got a copy that was usable with all of them.

That would have pissed me off if I had to use one Nero program for my CDRW, and a different one for my DVD-RW.

Really stinks when you change bios and nero won't work...ie. Verbatim to Liteon

My version of NERO that came with my Yamaha CDR is specific to that burner. When I try to select my pioneer DVD-R through the normal interface I get an error saying I have an OEM version and thatr device isn't supported. Funny thing is that they forgot to put that same edit in place when using the "wizard" interface. I can choose my DVD there without a problem.

There is a 99.999% chance that this is the OEM version. Unless the vendor will tell you what brand it's for, this should be avoided......

Just remember that this forum is for HOT DEALS not Software Manufacturer's Ripoff.
Many (most?) of the bundled Nero's are burner specific. However for the low price of $19.99 (4 cheap meals at subway) you can upgrade this to a "full version". They ask for info over the web and give you a number to unlock your copy.
Let's you burn to two burners at once.
Gives you the heartwarming satisfaction that you finally bought something legal.

I believe the OEM version means it just doesn't come with the box and documentation. It shouldn't be writer specific. Gogamer would have mentioned that.

NO - this is not always true - I've gotten 7 versions of the OEM version and they all have been burner specific. Upgraded 3.

Honestly, not to thread crap... but why in the world would you ever BUY software, especially software which can be downloaded, and even as a demo, works pretty much as a full version?

Well, if no one bought the software then there aren't going to be any new programs, except for those programmers who have nothing better to do then write freeware. Next, the Nero demo has a time limit, so unless you want to use it for more than a month, you will have to buy it.

Proud to say that MOST of the software I own, I actually purchased. That said, I love Nero! Best burning software ever. A bundled version came with my LiteON CDRW (5.5.7, I think) and at Ahead.de's website, they upgraded me to the latest bundled version for FREE. (5.5.10.0)

I'd love to buy a FULL LEGAL version w/the key and all that stuff, especially for this low price.

Does anyone know for sure if the version they are selling for this price is the FULL LEGAL NON-BUNDLED VERSION?

Yes, I guess I could call the vendor, but it IS 0545 right now, you know?

Info appreciated. Thank you.

*EDIT*

It's amazing what a little search can accomplish. I tried to link it, but it didn't work.
Go to their search page, here, and search on NERO. Your results will plainly show that the $15.90 version is the OEM...who knows what burner it works with? It doesn't say. The FULL version is right underneath it for $52.90. Oh wel.l.

Sorry, but this is NOT HOT since you can DL a trial version for free.

I think most of us knew all along it was OEM. That's clear when you check out the link.

What we don't know is whether this OEM version only works with a specific burner.

My experience does not prove anything, however, I purchased a copy of Nero from a vendor of similar fashion, and it was NOT drive specific.

I am able to use it on a Plextor CDRW and a Pioneer DVD-R drive - both in the same machine.

Cheers,

Josh
