Im about to get a SCSI burner for my comp.

The ones I have been thinking about are: Plextor 12x, Yamaha 16x, Yamaha 20x

Thing is that Plextor 12x is 75% more expensive than Yamaha 16x. Makes me think that if the Yamaha 16x is good Ill go for it and get a faster burner for less money.

But then on the other hand. Yamaha 16x doesnt have burnproof which Plextor 12x and Yamaha 20x (Safeburn) has.

Gimme some advice on what to do here. Is there another brand that you think I should go for instead??

Thanks in advance

Forgot to say: Plextor 12x and Yamaha 20x is about the same price (Yamaha a little cheaper)

And: Im not living in the States, so dont bother linking my to better prices...

If you have a complete scsi system, I wouldn't worry about not having burnproof. I myself have the plexwriter 12/10/32s. When burning from my scsi hdd, I never saw the buffer level drop significantly. In fact, I tried opening as many ie windows as I could until I got the out of memory error, and still the buffer level only dropped to like 98%. It's because when you burn across the scsi bus, you don't rely much on your cpu and the rest of your system.

Burnproof is absolutely necessary for a ide burner, but more of a luxury for a scsi burner. Nice to have, but most likely you won't use it unless you do something crazy...like defrag your hdd while burning....hmmm...maybe I'll try that next time I burn a cd

So if you're on a budget, get the 16x yamaha. If not, get the 20x yamaha (assuming that yamaha's safeburn is similar to burnproof). Both brands make good quality burners.

I just got a Yamaha SCSI 16/10/40. I really love it. I was wanting to get the Plextor but the fact that they are only going to put out a 12 made me decide to get the Yamaha.
