Since the discs are so cheap, I would say just try one. If it doesnt work, you know you have a problem.

Professional DJ I know says he never burns over 8x when doing audio because of loss of sound quality. I don`t know if true or not, but he`s making big money making music and I`m not.

<< Just got myself my first 24x CD burner. Do I have any problem with this burning 16x CDRs? >>

the difference is in max speed for the disk, just burn in on 16x, few minutes won't make difference. If you want to burn on full 24x speed, buy 24x CDRs!

"Pro" should know that there is no quality loss for digital copy !!! For analog it's true, but backward, higher speed-higher quality! Tape recorders, VCRs.....

I say just try it. When the 24X's first started coming out, a bunch of vendors just slapped 24X labels over their 16X ones until they exhausted their existing supply.
Fuji (Taiyo Yuden made) slapped 16X on top of 12X, then slapped 24X on top of 16X.

I have no problem burning my data files with 16X CD-R at 24X. Used Nero and checked verify after burning and showed no error. I even tried a 4X CD-R w/ the same result. I always burn audio CD-R at 8X just to avoid any potential problem. I'm just wondering how the 16X blank will work out at 40X burning.

I've had no problems burning 8x,12x and 16x discs at 24x on my new Liteon 24x burner.

Very few manufacturers have reforumlated their discs for higher speeds - the only reason discs were previously rated at 8x rather than 24x is that there was no official test for approval at that speed.

The 16X and 24X Cd's are the same. Example, memorex's 16X and 24X packages have the same part number/bar code on them.. same disks.

And as others have said, no problems burning 12X and 16X disks at 24X. In fact, I've had 1 bad disk out of the hundreds I've done, and it was on a 24X rated disk...
