burning a larger file than DVD will permit. help needed

I recently had in my possesion a DVD with ever version of windows loaded on it, and it had this nice menu that came up in the boot sequence allowing you to choose the version of windows you wanted, well some how the information I copied off the DVD is bigger than a double layer, the folder is 8.62 gigs, I recently learned that the DVD got damaged not by me, but I still happen to have the information that was on the DVD because I was told just to copy the data onto my computer and burn it later, because the person I borrowed the DVD from needed the dvd back in a hurry and now he needs me to remake the dvd but I do not know how to fit it on one and he hasnt a clue how it was put on there either. my second question is does any body now how the menu was created, this dvd was for german versions of windows (I live here currently for work and school) I would love to be able to make a dvd like this of my english versions of windows.

With that much data, you need a Dual Layer DVD Burner, Dual Layer DVD's (blank) & software capable of Dual Layer Burning
such as the Latest Nero (6.6 or 7) .. Roxio might handle it also, as may Alcohol 120 ... the original dvd that had the programs
is a Pressed version ... that is how they make them initially ... no other way to do it, except to split it in two, but then you would
need to swap dvd's when you go use them ... a regular dvd can only handle about 4.6 GB in size

Why not just purge the useless OSes from the data? If it has like Windows 95, who the hell would want that option anyway? LOL

well I do have a DL burner, it is bigger than the disk it is 8.62 gigs, I have nero 7 plus the software that came with my plextor burner, I am not sure if purging the 0Ses would be a good idea since somebody created a menu on the disk to make it so you can choose which os you want to install. but this was a burned DVD it wasnt something somebody bought it was something somebody copied from something else.

Just burn it on multiple dvd's splitting as os versions are necessary. If you have the files then you should look at it and modify the file that contained the menu information.

I wouldnt have a clue, I didnt make the file it is ingenious though I would love to be able to create a disk like this for my English OSes, so how would I do the split up, but I am curious how it got on a burnt DVD to begin with, it may have started out as an enterprise copy but somebody made a copy of it on a normal store bought DVD

If you have a Dual Layer Burner & Dual Layer Media then you should be able to make a copy
using Nero (check it's options to be sure Dual Layer Burning is enabled) ... also use Nero Tools
to be sure it recognizes your Burner as a Dual Layer unit) ... you could also use Clone CD
from Slysoft, but you might need the original dvd again

Nero also has a DVD Overburn option ... check it is enabled ... it will squeeze a bit more
onto a dvd ... not sure how much extra
