Just purchased mine for $475+tax from CircuitCity. No PM hassle, it is currently on sale at all CC stores in Mass, not sure if it is a nation wide though. Already send in the copies for AMEX to PM.

Poonjahb, you are DA MAN! Thanks for the receipt. I'm using it to buy the last TV (a display model) at my local Sears tonight!

the local sears wouldnt accept your receipt, poonjahb. They said that it was probably a floor model, and they cant PM floor models. No worries, though. I got my AMEX blue yesterday, and will be visiting CC today to pick it up!

I was able to price match the last floor model from a local store yesterday. But today I got another new one from another store. If you are interested in the floor model, I can pass this deal to you. If you are in central OHIO, Columbus area and interested, email: evergreen169@hotmail.com . OR it will go back to the store.

<< For people that have the TV, try these display settings and see if you like the picture any better:

24 color
40 tint
40 bright
40 pic
24 sharp

It makes for a decent baseline adjustment. If you come up with anything else, let me know
>>

thanks for the recommendations, looks nice, anyone else have any display settings that look?

hmm... i tried the settings above, i actually prefer the original default setting. the color is more saturated, might be the most neutral color, the picture looks sharper and more colorful to me.

for setting the sharpness, what I did was have text on a black background and adjust the sharpness until no noise would show on the outline of the picture, my sharpness was at 38.
It works better, and looks better than having it on 24.

Have you guys found a good way to disable SVM? I'm able to go into the service menu and tinker with the comb filter settings, but because I don't have a service manual (I don't want to buy it if I don't have to), I don't know which ones I am supposed to change. Going off a similar product's numbers, I think I have set VM Limit to 0, but I need to find a way to set VM Freq to 0.

Has anyone here bought a service manual by any chance and can tell me this??? I'm really getting frustrated with the SVM on this panny, which is very aggressive compared to what I had on the Wega (where I could turn it off in the user menu).

Thanks.

Yes, I believe that is a nationwide sale... at least that's the price I paid in Illinois. And it is very nice to not have to deal with pricematching in the store. Leave that up to American Express. Only 18 days left for the AmEx Blue service...

Just picked one up at CC for the mentioned price of $475, works well with the Amex BVG.

FWIW I went through the calibration with the Video Essentials DVD and ended up with these results:

28 color
27 tint
35 brightness
36 picture
0 sharpness

It's not an exact science (you'd have to pay for that) but it's lookin' mighty fine.

I tried this deal at Fry's Electronics. The stores didn't have them in stock but had the demo version out. I asked if I can take the demo for the price at Best Buy. The guy seemed to be reading the webpage very hard, but I guess he didn't see that it was sold out. He said I can take the demo for $299.99. $299.99 for a $499.99 TV.. $200 off for being a demo, I took it home. Not as hot as $239 for a brand new one, but it's cool.

I had been procrastinating on this deal for a long while, since I figured I didn't need a TV.

Last night that changed, when my now 5 year old TV finally gave up and croaked on me. Needless to say, I ran to Sears, and picked up the last of these TVs.

After that, I called up AMEX and got my pricematch done, and I'll give them a call in a week and verify it went through.

But kudos to you all who contributed to the information on this, I needed a new TV, and got one much better than I had before.

Thanks!

got one today... good deal, i guess...not much of an expert on tv's...

in any case, eastpoint mall, md has 1 left, a display model. otherwise, there are sony's, toshiba's, jvc's, all for 250-350.

250 total for a tv w/ svideo inputs and a flat face is great for me i guess. i'm just bitter cause i'm broke.
=)
