"I went to BB on monday, and they have the drive in stock, and here's the price tag..."
"ummm..... let me call and see if they have it in stock right now.."

(So what if they have it NOW, they wouldnt sell for that price anyway... thought that he was stupid)

waited for 5 mins on the phone

"sorry, they dont have it in... cant do PM on anything they dont have in stock"
"I was there monday, and they HAD it... so you're telling me i should have paid 60 bucks and have two drives sitting in my room?"
"sorry, cant do PM on anything they dont have in stock now"

didnt go anywhere after that
So basically, they're telling me that i should have spend my money both at BB and CC... and come back to CC and return the product?
still trying... maybe i'll try another CC....

When I dropped by my local BB around 3pm today it was back up to the 129 price..bummer..oh well. Hopefully next time they will have the hot deal in stock when I go originally..

Yeah--I stopped by my BB and found things different fom the way they were Monday (1/7). Monday, the drive was $79.99 with MIR for $20. Today it was $129.99 with $50 MIR noted on the shelf tag.

Kind of makes you wonder what the situation will be next week--as far as I can tell, nothing was advertised (certainly not locally)--the deal sort of "happened" as huge quantities of these things appeared at the retailers' shipping docks.

Since a couple of posts sounded like one or two folks felt "left out," I'll venture this OT offer: my son bought one for a friend who forgot to tell him his only computer was a laptop. I have it now, still sealed. I already have one in my machine. I'm not particularly eager to sell it, but don't really "need" it at the moment either. PM me if you want one at my (son's) cost of $79 + $5 tax - $20 rebate + cost to ship. I'm not trying to make a sale, but I am willing to share "too much of a good deal" if somebody wants.

I really wanted this CDRW. first I tried the other rhread for the pacific digital one PM in Staples from Sams club and they wouldn't do it because Sam;s club is a "wholesale store" whatever that means. Then I saw this thread and I decided to go try it out.
I went to CC and they were out of stock. A nice CSR told me that there was already someone there today looking for"why does everyone want only the TDK?" she asks-lol

So i hopped onto BB. They tell me that they already saw the scanned receipt and it's a forgery. They said they don't PM anything from the internet because it is all doctored. They kept changing their story" We had a guy from here who became a manager there and we called them up and there ws no such price" they also pointed out how the BB logo in the 1/7 receipt is backwards. They went and made a copy of my proce tag scan so they coul dtry to trace it down to whoever posted it claiming it's a forgery. Are they just trying to get out of PMing it or is it really a forgery? the BB logo that was backwards on the receipt does loook fishy....
BTW when they asked where I got the scan I didnt want top tell them but they said there were some people ther before hand and they said it was from anandtech-hmmm sound sfamiliar.
SO GUYS IS IT A LEGIT SCAN AND RECEIPTS OR IS IT A FORGERY?? Please let me know so that I can continue fighting those BB jerks.

I scored again! some of you remember I bought 2 at CC ang PM to BB then use rebates to get free TDKs and $10 profit each.

Yesterday, I buy 1 more at BB this time.
Today, I bring the BB price tag copy and my receipt go back to BB to PM... I went to Beaverton(Oregon) BB tell them I saw that price tag on Clakamas(Oregon) BB. [of course that's a lie, i just print it]

after thinking few minutes.. those BB jerk finally let me PM plus extra 10% .. so I got back $77, then after rebates I got another FREE TDK and $17 profit too. Yehaaaaaaa.

Did anybody try 10% BB coupon? I did and they refunded me 10% of my TDK ($130 with $70 rebate) Saturday. Not bad.

Okay, I am one of those lucky people got the $59.99 deal with $70 rebate. Here is my experience and some random thoughts.

- Bought the drive on Tuesday for $129.99 since I didn't have the shelf tag with me.
- Went back to BB today, brougt the printed Shelf tag and 2 receipts (thanks to people posted them, especially the shelf tag). Showed the shelf tag, didn't explain too much, the nice guy didn't even look at other receipts and gave me the price adjustment. THE SHELF TAG IS THE KEY.
- Didn't use extra 10% coupon since it was not sent to me through mail. How people get those? I shopped in BB before and my address is on file. Do I need to shop certain amount in the past? I got 10% off coupon in the past too, just not this time.

Some follow up thoughts:
- BB overall is nice, maybe just in my state (OR), compare to those commission based stores with salesmen we had in the past, we can't complain much. Thank god those went out business. Once there was a woman didn't let me exchange opened DVDs (even for the same title), she made up some story that I have to send it back to the movie company made it, what a bullsh**, I showed her the policy clearly printed out in BB receipt and got it exchanged. If she didn't know, that's okay, but why make up stories?

- Let's be nice, even at $59.99 after MIR this is a killer deal. The drive is by far the BEST I ever used, so fast I hardly noticed the job was done. And I can do all kinds of crap while it's burning, comparing to my old Creative 8x, even left it alone, still produce coasters after coasters.

- People who buy whole bunch (someone said he bought 9) and resell them on ebay SUCK, I hope there is a way we can inform those bidders. It's okay to buy extras for family members. Be considerate and we all can get in on good deals. Keep in mind you didn't discover it, someone else did and posted it here and meant to share among all members, not for you to hoard them.


- HOT DEALS forum rock, I laughed at a comment someone made about "anandtech himself to bankruptcy", it's very true.

I used to get the Preferred Customer coupons in the mail 2, but not anymore. Anyone know what gives there? I went in late last night, found 4 of these drives on the shelf, no price tag, nothing. Took it up to the CS Register and asked for a price/rebate check. She said it was $129.99 and had 3 rebates, then she said well 2 rebates for sure, a $20 & $50. She wouldn't tell me what the mysterious 3rd one was. When I checked out, I got the $50 & $20 ones. Overall, pretty happy with the deal.

Puhahaha... How are they going to trace shelf tag? That's very very funny.. What's funnier is... that backward BB logo thing. If you have ANY BB receipt, the BB logo is printed on the back of the receipt. If you look at the front of the receipt, the logo shows up BACKWARDS from the back of receipt! Hahaha... I would like to meet whoever said that the receipt was fabricated since the logo is backward!!

I thought I'd try scoring an extra drive for either my work computer or tossing it over to my buddy. Showed my own receipt from 3 days ago. No go. BB manager said the price ended in ".97" meaning it was to match a competitor and couldn't adjust another for me to buy. Ok, not a big deal, at least the manager was courteous, unlike the a$$ at CC.

Oh, shelf tag now shows $149.99 - $50 rebate = $99.99. :frown:


It looks like BB is trying to recoup some of the profit they lost by selling them for $59 or $79.

I second the motion to meet the BB employee that said the backwards BB logo means it was forged. That's a good one!! :Q

SO, for all of you skipping down to the bottom, BB is basically paying me $90 (120 gc - 60 (paid for orig drive that I returned)+ 20 rebate + 10 rebate (that 10 profit for me after the 59 drive - 70 rebates) from drive I kept) for all that hassle they caused me. Yes, the store number prints out on top, however, since I didn't purchase anything that day (damned manager), and since I didn't have my reciept from last time I bought something there (ti200), then I didn't have the store number

Either way, he should have given me the store number, even though he thought it was because I was gonna get him in trouble... which I was just bluffing.... but now, perhaps I can get another giftcard from BB corp for his irratic behavior!

BTW, you tell them they're printouts from a friend(s) of yours who got the deal and emailed you the scanned receipt, or got the shelf tag for you!

I once posted that I needed a certain hands free device-next thing I knew a manager of a store emailed me telling me where to get it. I know thi sis a case of a nice manager but if one knows about it-probably many more do and many are not so nice-I am sure they read it to block these deals.
