My local best buy had a sticker on the shelf that was 59, no rebates involved. Of course they were picked clean, but that alone was all it took to get CC to pricematch it. So when you go there, make sure you bring a copy of the tag, or the tag itself! I just printed out the tag, the dude called BB, confirmed it, and PM'ed it. Good stuff.

I talked to the Best Buy people today, ... apparently they know that their deals are all over the internet, some actually sounded real PO'd i was even asking about them. They said that they're pricing depends on the area, i.e. competitors near by or other best buys in the metroplex are offering low prices, they lower them too... so it all depends on your specific area. I, sadly, was not able to get one, as apparently all the BB's in the D/FW metroplex were sold out of them. I had the guy check, at the store that i went to... he was actually nice about it. 2 of the 3 Austin Best Buy's dont even carry the TDK brand cd-rw.

agh...

anyone happen to get an extra and is willing to sell at price? PM me!

edit: PM if in austin... just easier....

<< BB does not issue rain checks on items that are not advertiesed (ie on their sales paper). You can try to order, but you will have to pre-pay. >>

I wonder if I ordered from the website then brought it in store for a price adjustment? What do you think?

Aaaah, another case of Worst Buy Fvucking the customer over - why am I not surprised. I swore after the Black Friday GF3Ti200 fiasco (I was one of the ones at a store that didn't have stock when they should've) that I'd only go to BB for the absolute BEST of deals, which this might have been.
Anyway, ordered mine on the CC website, went in to pick it up today, and kindly asked the CC employee if he'd PM the BB shelf tag. He was more than happy to. Got the burner for $64.94 with $70 in rebates.
I'm sure there are plenty of people that have had bad luck with CC, but for me, they're ten times better than Worst Buy. I'll always try to PM BB deals to CC, and you can be that I will never, ever go to BB to buy anything full price.

Anyway, if this hadn't worked I was going to try to PM with Amex BVG - only problem I can think of is that all the stores have their own PM policy, which Amex will make you use before you resort to them. If your CC won't PM BB, you can maybe ask the CC employee to write something saying they declined you and use that to show Blue that they don't have a PM policy on this item ?!!?!? I dunno, just glad I got in on this.
Best of luck to others.

EDiT,
the manager at that BB is a total a$$.

I went there this morning (about 10:30am) and saw 3 at the shelf. Price tag says $59.99 - $20 MIR = $39.99
Grab all three (for family), it scan at register for $109. I show him the tag, he ask the manager.
The manager said it was $109 now, that is a yesterday tag. I pointed out that the tag was made on 1/7/2002 8:00am.
He then went on and said some mumbo jumbo that it was supposed to be $79 and would not sell for $59.
I argue for a while and he finally said I can only get one for $59 but no rebate, he then went on to instruct the cashier to rip he MIR when it print out. While doing the price change he tried to shove me the PSP crap, I told him to stick it up his a$$ (well not exactly that but he said I must be stupid not to get the PSP cos the burner needs to be clean every 6 months, I wanna give him the finger right there and then). Anyway I take it up front and coax the cashier to print me receipt copy and rebate form. Finally get it for $59.99 + tax - $20 = $39.99 + tax. What a work.

BB is really pissing me of these days. Their attitude is really unbearable.
They will try to get out of selling this by any means necessary. If you call in first, you might as well forget about it.
Good Luck.

ps: BB can go to hell.

AMEX BVG would not work anyway since they require a printed avertisement showing the lower price or an active web page that shows the lower price. They will no longer accept a store receipt or store shelf tag as proof for a BVG PM

Well..
I went to BB at Century III, Pittsburgh because that's the
only store around that had it in stock. I was just wishing to
grab one at $59 (no rebate). They won't sell it to me eventhough
I showed the $59 price tag or the copy-reciept.
Now the price is $79 after rebate. Damn BB. All their stuffs
are expensive. Good luck to everyone who got it.

heck, I am cursing myself. I didn't read this thread until today evening. I just returned this burner at Best Buy in the evening today.had got it 20 days back. I did it 'cos I bought the one at CC yesterday. The guy at BB today told me it was 129.99 - 50MIR -20MIR. same as CC basically. so i thought i'd return it anyway ,else i would have to go to CC to return theirs. Now I can't stop cursing myself for not going and PM'ing on Sunday at BB. ^^#%%$$@$:|

Does this drive work with Roxio Easy cd creator 5? My easy cd creator won't recognize it as a recorder, just a cd rom, and when i went to Roxios web site to see what recorders are supported it says 241040X, NOT A or B. WTF?

You wanna know what??

I work at Best Buy. I went in store to get stuff without knowing the deal with the TDK. Left the store, went to watch a movie, went home, checked AT, then BLAM - TDK 24x for 59 w/out MIR. Called my store, asked employee to hold one for me, told me he bought the last one. Got him to return it and let me buy it. Then I went in today and he told me he was keeping it. Keeping it because there was now a $50 MIR for employees only. So basically the drive for $9.00. Which of course made me even more angry!

So now the drive is back up to $129.00. Sucks for me.

This was posted by ctbag over on FW......(For those who already purchased this drive there is a $50 dollar TDK rebate posted on HERE on BB site!! The rebate is from 1/1/2002 to 3/31/2002!!! This makes this deal even more hot for the people who bought this drive at $59.97 or like me, who got it for $59.97 with a $20 rebate. They willl now pay me $10 to get the drive. )

vladgur,

You can definitely try sending in the rebate...

The Offer Date is 1/1/2002-3/31/2002. You'll also need a copy of your receipt, the UPC barcode, and the Serial Number barcode.

Whether you get the rebate or not is another question. However I don't see any real reason as to why you wouldn't.

Good luck!

No kidding. I went to get the one they were holding for me for $89, and when I get there, that is the price AFTER rebate. I called the manager up to explain that the employee refused to sell me one yesterday, then lied about the price today. She says too bad, you'll have to pay $109. I was pissed.

Now don't get me wrong...I can handle not getting in on the deal...What I can't stand is BB lying to get me to come to the store. Sunday they say they're in stock, but when I get there they won't sell them to me. Monday they say they're back in stock for $30 more, and hold one for me. When I get there, it is almost twice the price of yesterday, and they are rude to me about it.

Oh well...Guess I'll try for the Pacific Digital one at staples instead...

Thanks for posting. Saves me a trip. I was in BB on Sunday and didn't notice anything special with the burners. Then, I came home and read this and started feeling dumb because I didn't see it. Guess it wasn't just me.

Went to BB in Springfield IL last night, saw about eight of them on the shelf. There was no shelf tag so I'm thinking, could be a good sign or could be a bad sign. It was the latter, it rang up 129.99. Thought someone in the area might still want one (129.99 - 50.00mir = 79.99), still not bad even when you add sales tax which is roughly the same as shipping if ordered online.

of course they aren't going to sell it for 59.95 the nest day when it was a one day only deal (mistake) at least they honored that price for the complete day it occured....

the nxt day however, the tag price changed 3 times.....that's rediculous.

i work at a best buy and was more than happy to pick one up ;o)

im going to have to look into the 50 employee MIR...

although (here's a lil secret) the plextor 24x's that BB just got in are going to be going on sale next week....they are 159.99 right now....I don't know if the price is going to go uo, and they'll add in a MIR or if it will be a MIR on the current price.

I just picked up one of these drives today at my BB. I was there yesterday and they were out, but I went today at 10:00 a.m. and was first in line. There was one unit on the shelf. Even though the on shelf price was $149.00 I took it to the cash register. It rang up at $129.00 and then two rebates kicked out - one for $50 and one for $20 for a total of $70. So, I got the drive for $129-$70=$59.00.

Moral of the story? Just because they were out doesn't mean they won't be re-stocking at any time. Keep checking back at the store!

Under the heading...you won't beleive this.

After talking to 3 dif BB reps at dif times last night (monday), I was told that they had only one in stock but it was $129. I was in on Sunday and seen at least 7 TDK 24x's (no shelf tag so I didn't know the deal).

Today I was in BB for a dif reason and low and behold, there is still 7 of them there, still no shelf tag. I asked one of the guys if they just got a truck in and he told me no.

Why am I telling you .... cause no matter what they tell you, go check. lol Cause they aparently have no freaking clue!

Hey caino... Can you give us more detail on Plextor deal when you get more info? Or PM me? I would rather get Plextor drive even if I won't get a great deal like TDK. I was at BB yesterday and had to fight my urge to just buy Plextor at 159.99.

Thank you!!!
